It's still coming home

So England were beaten by Croatia last night in the World Cup semi final. Usually I'd be upset (and I am a bit) but the overriding feeling is pride. I'm just so proud of this England squad and manager right now. At the beginning of this tournament no-one expected anything from them - a vastly inexperienced team and manager - so getting to the semi final for the first time since 1990 is a massive achievement whichever way you look at it.

Even the press are proud of them - and not tearing them down like they usually do (although I'm sure they'll find something to complain about in the coming weeks).

Now I'm looking forward to the 3rd/4th play off - a notoriously pointless game - I hope England field and strong team and try to end the tournament on a win (and finishing 3rd is obviously better than 4th).

The memories from this tournament will always be with me and I'll never forget England winning a penalty shoot out!

Thank you for a fun (sometimes stressful) summer England. It's been a blast! I can't wait to see where this team can go from here.

Looking on the bright side of this defeat - before the tournament started I put a bet on Croatia to win and now they're in the final! Needless to say I'll be supporting them in the final, but I think France will probably get it.
