So, this week I've watched a few more shows (and I've been watching trailers for new shows that are coming to the US in autumn. There's some interesting looking stuff out there. There's also some that look rubbish though):
"Hawaii Five-0" - 6x24 - I really enjoyed this episode, especially all the core 4 action. I really wish this season had been more like this! I thought the action scenes were really good and the idea of Steve, Danny, Chin and Kono being on their own worked really well and it showed what the show is really about. I thought Grover and Jerry supporting them worked too - the balance was perfect in this episode. The whole thing just really worked for me. And I loved the scene when Danny was complaining about having to jump off that building. More episodes like this please!
"Hawaii Five-0" - 6x25 (season finale) - I thought this episode was as good as the one before it. I think it just goes to show how important it is having the gang being all together and having the focus be on the core 4 (or in this episode, Danny and Steve). They are the heart of the show and the scenes in this episode really showed that. I thought the scenes near the end when Grover was talking about how much Steve means to him and when Chin was talking about how much Steve supported him when he was grieving Malia were really emotional and, I'm not gonna lie, they made me cry. I did think it was a bit jarring that they weren't talking about Danny more though because he was undergoing a major medical procedure to save Steve so he was in danger too. I actually did think for a minute during the later scenes in this episode that Danny actually might not survive (given how erratic Scott Caan's appearances have been over this season I wouldn't be too surprised if he did leave at some point). I'm glad they were both fine at the end of the day though - although if this had been a series finale then maybe things might have been different. I'd really missed how good this show can be and as pleased as I am about how much I enjoyed these episodes I'm kind of annoyed that they waited the whole season to give us good stuff. I hope this is a clue of what's to come in season 7. If they can give us more of this then I might start getting more excited about this show again.
"Quantico" - 1x22 (season finale) - I thought this episode was quite a good finale but I think this show kind suffered during the second half of the season. It started out really well but lost it's way a little bit. I'm glad that this finale gave us (and the characters) a little bit of closure (although, is it really all over?) as I was worried that the main storyline might end up being carried into season 2 (I'm glad that didn't happen). I don't think the format really did this show any favours either in the long run. I enjoyed the flashbacks and stuff at first but I just don't think it really worked over 22 episodes. I think if this season had been shorter it might have worked better. Having said all of that I did enjoy this season for the most part and I'm curious about what they might do for season 2. Will the format change? I don't think they continue with it now they've all graduated (in the flashbacks) anyway. I guess we'll see come the new season.
"Bones" - 11x15 - I thought this episode was okay. The case was decent enough but I'm not really a fan of what they're doing with Christine. How will Brennan react if it turns out that she isn't brilliant at everything? I don't think putting that kind of pressure on a kid is a good thing. I really liked the Aubrey stuff in this episode and I hope it leads to some more interesting Aubrey stuff. He's my favourite character and I'd love to have some really good Aubrey-centric stuff.
"Criminal Minds" - 11x21 - I thought this episode was quite interesting but it really didn't hold my attention that well - and it seemed to go on forever.
"Blindspot" - 1x22 - Now, this was a really interesting episode and lots of things happened that I really didn't expect. How is Jane gonna get herself out of this one and how are the others gonna react when they find out what's been going on. Weller's fathers death bed confession was a real game changer and I'm really interested in seeing what happens next. Obviously there's gonna be the fall out from Weller but I'm super interested in seeing what happens now in the bigger picture (Im trying to be vague!). Next weeks is the season finale and if this episode is any indication then it could be a great one!
"Castle" - 8x22 (series finale) - I actually thought this episode was a bit of a let down, especially for a series finale! I thought the locksat stuff was interesting but nothing really major happened, did it? And I thought the final scene between Castle and Beckett with their happily ever after was really naff. And it almost offended me that they implied that a woman couldn't have her happy ending without children being involved. I didn't really like that. Oh, and with both of them being shot I really expected something more dramatic. I'm curious how this would have worked as a season finale - I'm assuming one of them wouldn't have survived (most likely Beckett) but it would have been far more dramatic. After eight years of the show where it has sometimes been brilliant (and sometimes been disappointing) I was hoping for a really food finale. Very disappointed that we didn't really get one (well, it was doing okay until the final scene).
"Containment" - 1x05 - I'm still enjoying this show. I think it's interesting that Katie is now starting to question who was patient zero (I did mention the same thing a couple of episodes ago). I wonder if her and Jake (is that his name?) will find anything during their investigations? I did think she was really out of line with him, though, when she had a go at him because he'd had a bad day. It's not a competition about who has had the worst day but I think seeing your colleague shoot himself in the head and then having to incinerate a dead child beats her bad day. That really annoyed me, surely she could have given him a bit of time instead of yelling at him. I don't think he should have caved right away, he should have said that he would help her later or something. Anyway, now I know this show is gonna be a standalone season I think I'm almost enjoying it more - I think it's gonna work well as a one and done thing. I'm looking forward to what's gonna happen next.
"The Flash" - 2x22 - I thought this was another good episode. I'm glad we got Caitlin back and I liked them all working together to find a way to take the Earth 2 metahumans out and I'm glad it worked. I also though the scenes between Caitlin and Cisco were cool - I especially like it when he used that power he didn't know he had "What the what?!". I liked the Wally scenes too although I thought it was a bit unreasonable for Joe to try and convince Barry to talk him out of dong what he was doing. I think we all called that final scene (especially after some of the lines of dialogue in last weeks episode) but how is Barry gonna deal with it? Oh, and Wally knows he's the Flash now? That will be interesting. I'm looking forward to next weeks finale. I hope it's as good as last seasons.
"Stitchers" - 2x09 - I thought this episode was a good one and I liked the way they told the story. I thought that worked really well. I think the introduction of Kirsten's sister is interesting but I don't think I really trust her and I don't think Kirsten should either. I liked her talking about the other members of the team. The Linus stuff was good too and is working pretty well as a subplot. I still not sure if I trust Nina though and I'm worried about what Cameron might do next - I think he's almost trying to convince himself that he likes Nina just to take his mind of Kirsten and that's not really fair on anyone. Next weeks is the Spring finale already and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.
"Arrow" - 4x22 - I thought this episode was quite good. I liked the dynamic between Felicity and her parents and having Curtis involved worked pretty well (I hope we see more of him next season). I also thought the scenes between Oliver, John and Thea were interesting. What's Darhk gonna do now? I have a feeling it's not gonna be good. Next week is finale time. I'm hoping for a good one.
"Supernatural" - 11x22 - I honestly can't think of much to really say about this episode. I thought it was really boring. Amara is boring and so is Rowena. Hoping for a decent finale and hopefully the end of this storyline.
