There's a bomb on a bus...

Yesterday during our small movie marathon we watched:

"Speed" - I hadn't seen this movie in a while but I have seen it about fifty times. It's one of my favourite movies and I really enjoyed watching it again. It might be over 20 years old now (what? I remember seeing it at the cinema) but it's still just so good! Such a great, simple, premise for a movie and for an all out action movie you really can't go wrong. There's barely any build up, it just goes straight into the action. And the action is awesome! Such a good movie! They just don't make them like that anymore, everything seems so complicated and overlong these days.

Oh, and "Speed 2"? That didn't happen.

"Duel" - Now I had seen this movie before but not for a really long time and I didn't really remember it that well. I really enjoyed it yesterday. Again a very simple premise but excecuted so well. I loved the bits of inner monologue from Dennis Weaver - I thought that was really effective, and showed him unravelling as he tried to figure out what was goingon and what he should do next, I especially liked him reasoning with himself. When I was watching it I was trying to put myself in his position. I have no idea what I would do it that situation. Dennis Weaver was really good in the whole thing actually. Very impressive performance.

"Dante's Peak" - I remember seeing this at the cinema too - back in the late nineties when disaster movies were in fashion (and I used to go to the cinema every week) - it's a pretty good movie but wouldn't have been my choice for a favourite movie marathon (it was Dave's. "Speed" was mine).

Afterwards we were gonna watch another movie but it was getting a bit late by then so we settled on watching the "Father Ted" episode "Speed 3" ("Ted, you forgot your brick!"). Great episode.

If I was doing a marathon on my own at home I would have watched a lot more - we didn't start until after 1pm and then had an hour break for lunch (I would normally eat while watching) and it was about 9pm when I left. It was a good day and we watched some good movies. I think I prefer movie marathoning on my own though. One day I'm gonna do a Michael Bay marathon because why not?
