So, yesterday I headed to the Apple Store in Regent Street for the "Meet the Filmmakers: The Maze Runner" event. It started at 6.30pm so I aimed to get there for about 5.30pm - I really wasn't sure how many seats were available or how busy it was gonna get. By the time I got there it was about 5.30pm and it was packed!! Standing room only was all that was left - although there weren't that many seats available in the first place.
At about 6.40pm (so fashionably late) the cast came out on stage - Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter and director Wes Ball were all present. They showed some clips from the movie and answered some question asked by the interviewer on the stage with them before saying that it was time for a few questions from the audience - and it was only a few! I think three people asked questions! All questions asked were related to "The Maze Runner" and not any of the other projects the actors had done which I thought was quite interesting. The Q&A finished at 7.15pm and the cast all left. As I was leaving a group of rather excitable girls ran out pretty quickly and walked around to the staff/commercial entrance so I followed them. By the time I arrived at the door there were loads of fans already there so obviously there was no chance of anyone stopping. Just after I got there one of the security dudes came out and announced that no-one would be stopping anyway. A little while after that the big gate opened and four (or five?) cars with blacked out windows drove past. Everyone screamed and waved and then it was all over and everyone went home.
I thought it was a pretty decent Q&A but I don't think it should be called "Meet the filmmakers" because there was no actual meeting involved - "See the Filmmakers" would be much more accurate. I kind of expected it to be like it was but I think some fans thought they would get a chance to meet people so might have been disappointed.
The Q&A was recorded and will be available from iTunes - like the rest of their previous events. I don't know if I'd go again but if I did I'd probably get there earlier! It might be longer to wait but at least I'd be sitting down.
