It's really good having this show back after the short Christmas break and I enjoyed this episode.
I thought the case was pretty interesting and I liked Grover's involvement - I actually really enjoy his scenes with Steve. They have really good chemistry together - but completely different chemistry to Steve and Danny so it's not like they're trying to replicate it or anything. I'm really intrigued by why Grover left Chicago now but I really liked that he kept telling Steve that they're not there yet. He's not ready to confide in him yet as he doesn't know him well enough. I thought that was really good because it takes some people while to open up and trust people. I kinda like that about Grover.
I think it's quite interesting that Danny's seems quite funny about Steve and Grover's growing friendship though. I wonder why that is? I mean, Grover's not that different to Danny personality wise and Steve's friends with him. I like that Steve invites Grover around to his place and stuff. It's nice.
I thought the Danny stuff was pretty good - I enjoyed the scenes between him and his new possible love interest. They seem pretty cute together and the chemistry seems like it's there. I thought the scene between him and Steve about it at the end of the episode was cute too - during that scene I also really liked how offended Steve seemed when Danny implied that his cooking was bad.
We didn't get many scenes between Steve and Danny again this week but I did like their conversation on the phone and Grace (liked Grover's input, he's speaking from experience whereas Steve is just trying to make Danny feel better) and it was nice seeing Danny driving his own car for a change. The fact that Danny spent this episode apart from everyone else makes me wonder if they were filmed at different times because Scott Caan wasn't available again. It's starting to feel like Scott Caan just doesn't want to be in the show anymore (I think it's starting to show in his performances - not this episode specifically but just generally) and that makes me sad and wonder if it might be better for everyone (including the show) if they just cut him loose. Or maybe there's something they can do, creatively, to make him happier.
It was great to have Kono back in Hawaii finally! I think I'd missed her more than I thought because I'm really looking forward to the four of them - Steve, Danny, Chin and Kono - working together again. I wonder if Cath will be in it slightly less now Kono is back? Incidentally, I didn't miss her at all in this episode. I didn't even realise she wasn't there until Steve mentioned that she was off doing something Navy related.
Next weeks looks pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to it.
In other news: We went to the theatre again yesterday. There was no Shakespeare involved yesterday as we went to see "Mojo" at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The play starred Rupert Grint in his stage debut, Ben Whishaw, Colin Morgan, Daniel Mays and Brendan Coyle. So a pretty awesome cast and they were all really good in this Whishaw did a great job of playing someone who was unstable and Mays and Grint made a great double act together, you could see the chemistry they had. I really enjoyed the play even though we got cheap seats and the "restricted view" was rubbish (I could hardly see anything). Luckily for the second half Dave and I were allowed to stand at the back where we had a much better view. Dave found the seats very uncomfortable and wouldn't have been able to sit in them for another hour - I'm used to sitting in little seats at work so wasn't as bothered about that but I was pleased to be standing up for the second half anyway.
We've bought cheap "restricted view" seats before but they've never been quite as bad as this so even though I thoroughly recommend the play if you do go it might be worth buying more expensive, more central seats.
