Castle 5x20

First of all, great title! I love a good pun and that's an awesome one! Well played.

I really enjoyed this episode, it was just a really entertaining one. I loved Castle believing in Bigfoot - as Beckett said he believes in everything! But why not, right? I liked his reasonings for believing in it, sometimes it's good to believe in things. It's one of the best things about Castle, I think, and I loved the end when the dude implied that he'd seen Bigfoot out there! I hope Castle never stops believing in crazy things. It's a great character trait. I also really loved that Ryan believed in it too, and Esposito didn't! I love those two, their "bromance" is one of the best parts of the show and I loved that they got quite a lot to do on their own during this episode. They're not the "B team", unless B stands for badass! Lol! Love those guys and I hope that next season (time's running out for it to be this season now) we get an episode focused just on them. I think that could be awesome.

The case of the week this week was decent enough - I guess that the boyfriend of the first victim was innocent - but it was a shame that the killer ended up being the first person they spoke to (I think?), again.

The subplot of someone stealing stuff from Castle's fridge was pretty fun - I thought it was pretty obvious that it was Alexis though.

I have a horrible feeling that we're heading for angst in the last few episodes. I'm not ready.

Following 1x13

I thought this episode was pretty good - ridiculous, but good! The opening scenes were crazy with Ryan standing with Roderick right next to the board where there was a picture of him as a suspect! I was literally shouting "look at the fucking picture! It's right there!!". I was glad Mike Weston saw him early on and confronted him but I kinda wanted Mike to run off to Ryan for back-up or something, although he was gonna phone Ryan but he ran out of time.

There were some great Roderick scenes in this episode - I think Warren Kole has been brilliant in this (his scenes with Kevin Bacon were especially strong) and I loved the way he stood up to Joe. I think maybe Joe is starting to realise that some people aren't quite as easily manipulated as he would like. Roderick stood up to him (and paid for it with his life) and so did Claire, loved it when she stabbed him. The best thing was that he just didn't see it coming. I wonder if Claire can get herself out of this now? I guess she doesn't care about what happens to her as long as Joey is safe now. I also loved that Jacob listened to her (and Ryan) in the long run and let Ryan rescue Joey. I really think that Jacob is starting to question Joe's motives now and I definitely think that at some point he's gonna work against Joe. I think you could see that he was considering Ryan's deal when he saw the news report on the TV. I think it's only a matter of time.

I liked that Ryan developed a plan with the others to get Roderick to show him where Joey was - and Roderick was obviously not gonna let Ryan and Joey just get away. I think it's a shame that Roderick had to die because I think he was a really interesting and complex character and wanted to see more of his disagreement with Joe.

What was the deal with that follower at the end? Was that Joe's doing? And that FBI dude said she was clean! I guess he didn't check her well enough. Maybe he's one of them?

We've only got two episodes left now (I think I said that a few weeks ago when I thought there were 12 episodes in the season instead of 15) and I wonder where it's gonna end? Is this season gonna get a proper conclusion or will it continue into the next one?

H50 3x20

I'd really missed this show over the past few weeks (you know, I'm convinced that they space the episodes out like this towards the end of the season just so we can get used to being without shows so the summer hiatus doesn't seem so bad) so I was super glad to have this show back.

I don't think this was the best episode they've ever done but I do think it was really good that they did it. Steve is the main character in this show so he's entitled to an episode to himself and it was really interesting to see the lead up to things at the beginning of the pilot episode - with the mission etc - a real insight into why Steve is the way he is, I guess. The friendship between him and his SEAL buddy in the flashback parts of this episode was pretty good (not as good as his friendship with Danny and the Five-0 team, obviously, but we've seen a lot of that so it's nice to see his friendships with others before them). Steve and Freddie were obviously super close, like brothers, so the guilt Steve must have felt leaving him behind like that must have been huge and then losing his father so close after that. No wonder Steve was so stoic during the opening episodes of the show. He was obviously going through so much shit, I'm just glad that he found his new Ohana soon after that and I think that must have been what got him through it really. People moan about him seemingly getting over things quickly - like his mother coming back, for example - but Steve is obviously very good at compartmentalising (he probably learned that in the SEALs) which is something he must have been doing right from the beginning of the show. I think if he hadn't done that he would have just fallen apart long before now. Maybe catching bad guys in Hawaii helps with that too? I wonder if there'll be something that's just the final straw, something so bad that he just won't be able to take it anymore? I feel like I should mention here that Steve cried. I think that's the first time we've seen him actually cry, I mean, he's come close before but there were actual tears shed here.

It was good seeing Joe White again (although, has Steve had his number all this time? Why has he never called on him for more explanations about his mother?! Weird) and I liked seeing Jimmy Buffett's character again. This episode was lacking in Hawaii (which is a weird thing to say) and the others but we did get some good scenes of the core four - I liked it when Danny spoke to Catherine on the phone asking how things went and then when Steve was on the phone to Danny, Chin and Kono explaining (or not) that they had to go back. Loved Kono mentioning what happened the last time he went there! I was hoping someone was gonna say something like that. I thought the final scene was brilliant (best moment in the episode). It was great to see that Chin, Danny and Kono were there lending their support, from a distance. Like they were there if he needed them but they didn't go blundering in. He knew they were there and it was enough. Aww. Ohana feelings from that scene. Oh, and I also got some random Jenna feelings (I've no idea where they came from) when Freddie asked Steve not to making it for nothing.

I think in this episode it made sense why Catherine would be accompanying him but, and I feel like a bit of a bitch saying this, I just don't think she's a strong enough character (or actress, sorry Michelle Borth) to be the second focus of an episode. I don't dislike her, she's kind of a badass, I just think she would work better as a character if there was less of her. I think her character needs to step back a little bit. Maybe the next episode (which is in two weeks!) will be lighter on Catherine to balance things out? I'm also a little concerned about the clunky way they're handling the Steve/Catherine stuff - did we really need Freddie mentioning how they were perfect for each other (or whatever that line was)? Steve and Catherine have never been in a serious commited relationship (that we know of) so that line just didn't seem right somehow. I think maybe this show just isn't that good at the male/female romance stuff. Some show's just aren't. "24" never was. I think this show's strength is the friendships.

To sum up, I don't think it'll be an episode I watch repeatedly but I am pleased that they did it and it did give me a lot of Steve feelings. Poor guy. He's been through so much and I have a horrible feeling that it's not gonna stop anytime soon (I'm scared for the end of the season!)

After those I watched "Elementary" - 1x18 - I thought this episode was a really good one. I loved seeing Sherlock letting Watson have her own case to solve. It was kind of obvious that their separate cases would end up being connected but I thought the way they were connected was pretty clever, and I loved that Joan was the one who figured stuff out. Working together they could both solve both of their cases. I guess they're stronger together. I like that.

I felt kinda sorry for Joan when her friends decided to stage an intervention because Joan wanted to be a Consulting Detective now. I can kinda understand why they'd be worried but she's an adult and can make her own decisions (even if they do end up being mistakes. They're her mistakes to make). I was glad her friend phoned her up to apologise at the end. I think the friendship between Sherlock and Joan is really good. It's great to see a platonic male/female relationship on .

After that I watched "New Girl" 2x04, which was pretty cool but I can't think of anything to say about it. And then I watched "Touch" 2x03 which was quite good. It seemed like a slightly simpler storyline than previous ones but it's obviously all connected to the bigger picture. I thought it was really sweet that Jake wanted to go to school. I hope he settles okay into mainstream school. I'm interested in seeing where this is all gonna go and I hope they finish all the loose ends before the end of the season because I think cancellation is coming.
