Castle 5x09

While it seemed a little too early for a Christmas themed episode (is it not on again now until after Christmas?) I love Christmas themed episodes of my shows so I'll definitely take it! This episode kinda reminded me of a Christmas themed “Bones” from a few seasons ago.

I loved the ongoing theme of Christmas traditions - loved that Castle had one with his family and that Beckett had her own tradition of sorts but the best part of that was the scene when Esposito mentioned that him and Ryan have/had a tradition. How cute was that?! Aww. I also loved the scene between them at the end when Ryan confided in Esposito that he wasn't sure if he was ready to start a family with his wife. Loved Esposito reassuring him that he is. I really love their friendship and just realised that I'd love an episode focused on them two with Castle and Beckett in the background instead of the other way around. They should totally do that.

I liked how upset Castle was about Martha and Alexis abandoning their Christmas tradition but then the scene at the end when they'd cancelled their plans was really sweet. Loved it that Beckett showed up too - ready to start a new tradition. Cute scene when Esposito delivered that clock back to the family too.

Oh, and the stuff with Gates and her family dramas was fun aswell. It's nice to see a different side of her every now and then.

I also thought the case of the week was pretty good - it had more twists and turns than usual and a lot of different suspects. I also liked that we had a few fake endings too. With us thinking the killer was three different people before the real reveal. That was good and pretty well done.

Loved Castle's decorated house - with the train and everything! Awww.

H50 3x09

While I don't think this episode was the best they've ever done I did enjoy a lot of things about it.

The Max storyline was cute - his scenes with Sabrina were adorable! I think during every scene he had with her I was watching with a big grin on my face going “naaaaaw, he's so cute!”. I loved the scene first scene when he was in the bank and letting everyone go infront of him so he could be served by her again and it was so cute when she asked if he was coming in to see her. Awww. I also loved how he lept into action after the dude was shot to help him. That was really cool. Heroic Max and adorable Max in one episode.

While I enjoyed seeing Kono and Steve working together on the main case (I loved the scene of them chasing the bare ass naked dude. And then Steve telling Kono it was her turn to cuff him. Lol!) I couldn't help but miss Danny and miss Danny and Steve's interactions. The fact that Danny was working the model case by himself made me wonder if the filming of this episode coincided with something that mean Scott Caan wasn't as available as usual as this episode definitely seemed to be lacking in the Danny department. I did like the scenes we did get with him though - he was so cute when he was chatting to the models and was a badass when he saved Behati from the stalker. I also liked it when the Camaro came flying though the tall grass to help save Steve. That was a cool moment.

I think we only got three Steve and Danny scenes this week (and one of the included a “book 'em Danno” for the second time in as many episodes. I can't help but smile when Steve says that) but they were good moments. I loved their first scene when Danny said he wanted to stay and help the models (the look on Steve's face was brilliant) - it did make me wonder if they could just abandon one case for another when Steve gets a call though. I mean, if Danny hadn't stayed on that case she could have been killed). The second scene between them was a classic though - loved them dressed up in their suits with Grace (loved her posing for Steve to take her picture. Awww). Such a cute moment. And Danny wondering what his chances were of getting Behati's number (but isn't he techincally still with Gabby?). Loved Steve stopping him when he went to follow.

Oh, and I figured out that the bank robbery was a cover for a hit about ten minutes before Steve and co did. It took them way too long to realise that.

Some great action scenes this week as usual - loved the scene of Steve jumping out of the window. The filming of that was badass! I actually said "what a cracking shot!" out loud.

Guest star wise C. Thomas Howell is always good to watch - especially when playing bad guys - Rumer Willis was pretty cool (I wonder if we'll see her again?) and Behati Prinsloo did okay.

I don't think this episode will end up being a favourite of mine but it was still good. Just not enough Danny.
