When Tosh finally looks up from her computer screen, the time flashes 3:56 am. When did it get to be 4 am in the morning. She looked around, rubbing at her eyes and sure enough, no one else was there but her. All the lights had been turned out and everyone's stuff was gone.
Had anyone even bothered to tell her they were leaving? She tried to think. Oh yes, there were flashes of people saying goodbye as they left, and her saying something incoherent at them as they walked out the door.
They were probably going out to get drinks. To hang out and be sociable. Everyone but Tosh. Maybe they'd even tried to get her to come along with them. But she hadn't. How many nights could she sit there by herself?
But she'd been having fun sitting at her computer screen. Sure she'd been doing her work, but she'd been done that ages ago. No one actually needed to know that she got done faster then everyone else.
Sure she was stereotypical nerd, carousing the internet looking for whatever. Not porn of course, that would wait until she got home, but just someone to talk to. Things to do, people to meet.
It was sad when she'd rather talk to the people online instead of the people who were right next to her during the course of the day. They didn't make her feel very welcome if she was honest. But then she hated blaming things on other people.
She was much more apt to blame herself for all of this.
Tosh sighed and sat back, looking at the computer screen and then finally clicked it off. She packed up her things and headed home.
Maybe one night she'd pay attention.
One night she wouldn't feel so alone.
