At some point in the history of every interdimensional nexus, something strange, unprecedented, and just plain odd happens.

The seal wandering around in the middle of the lobby might just be that incident for the mansion.

Kaito was wandering around the mansion as a fox, minding his own foxy business when he wandered into the lobby and saw this. A... seal? What's a seal doing here? His ears pointed forward while his head tilted slightly to the side in a more human gesture of curiosity. Kitsune being the curious creatures that they are he had to investigate this occurrence, so he trotted forward a few steps, not close enough to be a threat, sniffing.

Hakuba gave no sign of above-animal intelligence as he stopped moving, blinking at the... kitsune? Possibly, though he was sure he had been in England not five seconds ago.

Conan stared at the seal. He blinked. That was...

"I guess it's good we're getting variety?"

The seal-form was the most awkward thing in the world to be in on land, but Hakuba wasn't about to shift out of it.

Edogawa Conan. That meant Japan. Odd, but not the strangest thing he'd ever had happen to him.

Conan approached, looking the seal up and down slowly. "...I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with a whole lot of myths of magical creatures. I'm new to that. What are you? An enchanted seal?"

An enchanted seal. Really.

He blinked solemnly at the boy, not saying anything. Edogawa had never seemed like the type to be involved in what 'normal' people called mythology, so the words surprised him a bit. He wasn't going to do anything that would give the boy any more reason to suspect him.

"Seal!"

And have another Edogawa Conan, this one approaching at high speed, clearly very enthused about spotting the mansion's newest guest. He stops just short of the seal, beaming. "Order Carnivora, sub-order Canifomia, super-family pinnipedia from the Latin pinna for wing and ped for foot -- are you phocidae or otariidae? I forget the difference." He frowns thoughtfully at the seal. "I don't remember the mansion having an ocean. Did you just get here?"

Phocidae. Otariidae are the fur seals. But of course he doesn't say anything, passing up the chance for instruction in favor of blinking at Conan benignly.

Oh how he hated this sort of situation.

"Oh. Right." Conan swats himself irritatedly -- how could he make such a kiddy mistake? "You're a seal." He studies Hakuba silently, before circling him with his usual detective-like manner in full swing. "You're a mystery. Water trail starts here so clearly this is where you came from ..." Conan tugs the door open and looks at the dry carpet beyond unsurprised. "Your arrival was ordinary then, even if you aren't. Hey, you hungry?"

Ordinary? Any questions would have to wait until later, until after he could find an out-of-the-way room and clothing.

Not uncommon-- no, ordinary to simply appear from nowhere.

Akako pauses in the distance, frowns - then strides quickly to meet the seal. On her knees in front of the creature, she brushes her fingers against its fin, looking into its liquid-black eyes.

"Hello," she says slowly.

The witch. He and the witch did not get along at all, her interest in him extending beyond the vaguely dominant position she took towards all fully human males.

A slight nod of recognition.

Akako blinks at the little nod, a happy smile - that could be somewhat dangerous - creeping over her lips. She reaches out to take the seal's other flipper. Now they're hand in hand.

"An earthly nurse sits and sings,
And aye, she sings by lily wean ..."

Akako is singing brightly to the seal, with her waving his fin to the rhythm.

"And little ken I by bairn's father,
Far less the land where he dwells in."

She stops to hold the whiskered face in her hands. "You're such a sweet thing aren't you? Aren't you?" She nudges her nose with his.

Yes, she's talking in a rather patronising tone.

He has never been more humiliated in his life. He has a choice. He can tell the witch who he is, or he can sit here and take it and risk her wrath later.

So he blinks large dark eyes at her as she sings.
