At some point in the history of every interdimensional nexus, something strange, unprecedented, and just plain odd happens.

The seal wandering around in the middle of the lobby might just be that incident for the mansion.

"Seal!"

And have another Edogawa Conan, this one approaching at high speed, clearly very enthused about spotting the mansion's newest guest. He stops just short of the seal, beaming. "Order Carnivora, sub-order Canifomia, super-family pinnipedia from the Latin pinna for wing and ped for foot -- are you phocidae or otariidae? I forget the difference." He frowns thoughtfully at the seal. "I don't remember the mansion having an ocean. Did you just get here?"

Phocidae. Otariidae are the fur seals. But of course he doesn't say anything, passing up the chance for instruction in favor of blinking at Conan benignly.

Oh how he hated this sort of situation.

"Oh. Right." Conan swats himself irritatedly -- how could he make such a kiddy mistake? "You're a seal." He studies Hakuba silently, before circling him with his usual detective-like manner in full swing. "You're a mystery. Water trail starts here so clearly this is where you came from ..." Conan tugs the door open and looks at the dry carpet beyond unsurprised. "Your arrival was ordinary then, even if you aren't. Hey, you hungry?"

Ordinary? Any questions would have to wait until later, until after he could find an out-of-the-way room and clothing.

Not uncommon-- no, ordinary to simply appear from nowhere.

"I bet there will be fish in the kitchen," Conan said thoughtfully. "But it might be more fun to take you to the dining room." He reached out carefully to pat the seal.

And the seal was going to sit and take it. Yay patting. Yay.

Fish sounded good though, and if he followed along with Edogawa, he was bound to get some answers, if only through the boy's ramblings.

He was going to get a good deal more patting before he got the fish though. "You smell like the beach," Conan said. "But that's not a surprise, really. I wonder what rooms you'll get?" And then adding for the benefit of his audience, "The rooms change. If you're thinking of something specific, it'll usually turn up. Let's try it! I'll hold the door, you think of ... well, whatever a seal thinks about."

Conan caught hold of the doorhandle and waited expectantly.

Whatever a seal thinks about? Currently this seal was thinking about a kitchen. Fairly generic, nothing that would prove he was actually thinking. Just the idea of a-place-to-get-food.

Conan judged it had been long enough and swung open the door. "Oh." He glanced back at the seal in disappointment. "I was hoping for something a bit more exciting. This ..." He let the door swing open to display a room that resembled a motel room with a little kitchenette. "Boring!" Conan annouced, closing the door. "This time, I'm going to do it." He concentrated, and when he opened the door again, it was on to a wide room that looked something like a warehouse, freshly caught fish lying on beds of ice in styrofoam containers. There were odd packing crates and trolleys lying around, while large freight containers divided the wide room into sections shadowed and mysterious. Conan hesitated in the doorway, not sure which part to explore first.

He's a seal, what were you expecting?

Moving, with the awkward motions of a creature that was not supposed to spend large amounts of time on land, towards the fish. It smelled really good.

Something more like the aquatic enclosure in a zoo, actually. But that is 7-year-olds for you. Conan followed Hakuba along, looking at the fish. They were all species he'd seen in the supermarkets back home or while taking foreign visitors of his parents to the famous Ginza fish markets. "I wonder if they're the same because I imagined them or because of the way this mansion works?" he wondered aloud, poking at a vast blue-fin tuna.

Well, maybe the mansion was more inclined to basic human places. The idea of "place with food" could go any direction.

Fish, fish, nosing around in the fish.

It could indeed. Conan was certainly happy enough with the warehouse, pushing some cardboard boxes aside to free a trolley. He pushed it back and forth, grinning as he discovered that the wheels rolled smoothly. Impromptu skateboard get. "Watch this!" he told the seal.

And watch he does, after selecting a good-sized fish from the ice and settling in to eat it, ripping off chunks of meat with quick efficiency.

Conan takes a running jump onto the trolley, momentum and a few good kicks carrying them across the floor at a good speed. A very good speed, in fact, and it is with surprise that Conan realises that they're not very far from a stack of boxes. Unfortunately, it is a lot harder to stop a trolley than a skateboard, and the resulting crash buries trolley and rider in a cascade of boxes and ice.

And he can't move very quickly like this, but he moves as quickly as he can over to the pile, and starts nudging things out of the way.
