Well, our camping trip was fun, even though it poured down rain the first night. The second day and night were awesome. Friday night was mostly setting up and hanging at the campsite enjoying the weather until it started raining. Saturday morning was spent drying out and trying Tom's hashbrown potato pancakes. They were pretty good with bacon and cheese in them, however he made them in advance and then froze them, so they fell apart as we tried cooking them. Later that morning a few of us went to hike Clingman's Dome which was a 20? minute ride from the campground, it was a shorter hike than i remembered, but the wind was blowing and the top was covered with a cloud so you couldn't really see anything. It ended up taking about 20? minutes to get to the top. Not a bad hike and it is paved with benches for resting, but it is just really steep. As we drove back we passed this field with people all pulled over with camera's out and I just did realize what they were taking a picture and jerked the truck to the side of the road. My passengers thought I was crazy until they saw it too. It was an mother elk and her baby. I ran in front of traffic so that I could get a picture. She started meandering away so you might not be able to see them very well. Then as we hopped back into the truck we decided to pull into the grist mill. We all thought that it was still working, but we were wrong, but it was still a very beautiful area.
After making it back to the campsite, I changed into bathing suit and tubed in the crick :)). It turned out to be an awesome day in spite of the night before. i wasn't really impressed with the campground though. The sites were too close together and people had absolutely no campers etiquette as far as not walking through your campsite. We had a creekside site and that people would just walk right through it instead of on the edge of it. While we were sitting right there no less! I loved the area though, but I think that a more secluded campground would have been better.
We came back on Sunday and unpacked and put things away.
Then Monday Tom started having a sharp pain in his R side and shortness of breath. I told him then that we needed to go to the doctor or better yet the emergency room, but he refused until finally THURSDAY. I finally convinced him to get a doctors appt., at the very least, which he did for Friday morning and during the whole 4 hours at the doctors office and through the different tests, he was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. he spent one night in the hospital, just long enough to make sure the xarelto was working and we got home Saturday at 1:00. He is slowly improving, but still has moments of shortness of breath, but today he called at work and said that he was able to get through his shower without getting tired. Woohooo! That was awesome to hear, because I still hear him coughing and he short of breath after each episode. But as long as we headed in the right direction we are good.
Now, let me try to post some pictures...
