Whew! Last night was amazing!
...
Get your mind out of the gutter! I had plans with thee of the most awesome chicas on the planet. Although delayed by a freak storm, Elvia, Rosie, Esther, and I got on our way about 6:30, heading to the anime club meeting on campus. When we got there, they were in the middle of showing an anime called Beck, which from what I gathered dealt with romance and indie rock type music (perked your ears, twerpalicious? ^__~). What struck me most (other than a pretty blond) was how amazingly well the English was; I mean, yeah, there were some silly/cute word flubs, but compared to the standard Engrish one finds in most animes, it was excellent. I think they only showed one episode of it, though, because the president called it a birthday present and then yapped for a long time before they got started on the playlist. First up was Oh My Goddess!, which struck me as the way Chobits should have been. It's a pretty cute anime, and I enjoyed the episodes they showed, but I'm not sure it's something I'd devote $300 or 10 gigs of harddrive space to. Next, they put on this spastic anime that made Rosie just flip out (¡Flipaba, flipaba!), so we exited the building rather hurriedly.
After getting some fresh air and dosing Rosie with some smelling salts, we zipped over to this tea place Rosie and Esther highly recommended. The owners were so great, and they make some stellar drinks. I had a chai latte that tasted like cinnamon, pumpkin pie, and vanilla! ^o^! Elvia had a pineapple smoothie, Esther lychee, and Rosie red bean. They were all good although the red bean was probably my least favorite. They also got their smoothies dosed rather heavily with boba (high jinx ensued).
With our energy restored, and laughter having chased the vile images of that last anime out of our minds, we returned to the meeting, where they showed an absolutely hillarious music video called "Chihuahua" and a short clip of some cute animal-based anime. What came next would shock us all. We were instantly ensnared by Fullmetal Alchemist. Elvia and I opined that even our brothers would be hooked. The blood would suit them, anyway. Rosie and Esther had to bail after the second episode, but Elvia wanted to stay for the third, and I was more than happy to oblige.
At midnight, the meeting came to a (rather abrupt) end, so Wereelvia and I (werejoe!) went in search of a bite to eat. We stopped at a Perkin's, a place I hadn't patronized in years. She had this really scrummy looking chicken tender melt while I went with a more traditional French dip sandwich. The food was quite tasty, and the service wasn't bad. Of course, the company and conversation was top-drawer, but that certainly wasn't a surprise for me. ^__^
All in all, it was a stupendous evening. Now if only I could get all these anime downloads to speed up... >
