There are many, many problems with McCain in this interview. I could easily go line by line and fact check his comments and end up awash in red ink. But I'm struck by his comments at the very beginning regarding Bill Ayers. This is the first I've heard him assert that Ayers (and indeed his wife) are presently trying to destroy America. There has been a lot of discussion about the recent negative turn of the McCain campaign. By their own admission, the economic terrain is a difficult one for them to overcome. I'm not expecting either of them to make a major gaffe tonight. I think the most likely result is an uneventful debate with one of them coming out slightly ahead--pretty much just like the first presidential debate.

OTOH, it will be incredibly embarassing if they both come out wearing the same dress.

That was a 23-run home run. Anyone who says different is (a) blinded by their partisanship or (b) being intellectually dishonest based on their partisanship or desire to create a story because they are a talking head.

I watched the convention coverage last night. I thought Clinton's speech was very good. It's amazing how post-speech commentary underscores the bias of the respective networks.
