Chuseok, Air Supply, and Der Zorn des Khan!

Today's the eve of the eve of Chuseok. We're leaving tomorrow morning to visit Jin's family in Switchblade Sister City. My principal gave me a box of apples, and the kindergarten class made songpyeon. Everyone was afraid to eat them, but we did and no one found a hair or a bit of gravel or poop or anything in them that wasn't supposed to be there.

Now enough with the educational link-fu, here's some kid artwork:

I think this is an illustration from ESPN's production of ANIMAL FARM, EXTREME!. "Take that Snowball!" But seriously, look at those pigs. Their body language is perfect. Jules Feiffer couldn't have done better. I hope whichever one of my kids drew it (at this school I share a classroom with the art teacher and the artwork's on the windowsill when I get there) does more.

Been watching more TV, and while I've yet to figure out a schedule I do generally stop flipping channels whenever I encounter an old movie, any (no matter how crappy) SF/Kung Fu/Spaghetti Western movie, Ugly Betty (Queens! *sniff*), or an interesting sporting event. Last week I watched a Judo match that was pretty riveting. Russia versus Korea, with the Russian having an early lead only to get pinned by the Korean in the last minute. Intense stuff. Slow and lumbering one moment, lightning quick the next. Today I caught a Womans' Volleyball game, Korea vs. Iran. Korea lost. The Iranian team played in sweat suits and head scarves while the Korean team played in shorts and t-shirts. Also, for some reason, the game was played in China. There was an ad for an upcoming Tae Kwon Do tournament but I couldn't figure out when it would be showing. Sadly, the sports' channel used Air Supply's "Lost in Love" as its promo music for an upcoming baseball game.

Which, of course, is now in my head.

Oh, what a hellish ear worm. I'd rather have a live sand-eel crawling inside my skull than listen to that song. So here you go, in German, Der Zorn des Khan:
