Windy Poplars is probably my favorite Anne book, too, and now I am mightily curious about what I've been missing all these years. May have to check it out once I've got a little more free time.
The Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul is one of the rare sequels that I like even better than the original book: I think Adams was trying out (very interesting) ideas in Dirk Gently, but didn't quite get all the subplots working in tune.* Teatime does better with this, IMHO, and has some similiar eerie moments and thinky stuff that obviously influenced both Pratchett and Gaiman, and also has a fairly awesome main female character, which is usually not Adams' forte. All around, one of my best-beloved books ever: you should check it out when you've got a chance

Er. Yes. I was going to say all that the above two people have already said about The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul and Adams' Doctor Who work... so considering that they've already said it, this is a rather useless comment XD
Also, Pratchett is awesome. I wish I took more time to read... I've only just begun on the Discworld series, and I love it to bits, but it's taking me forever because I'm so busy... I've only read three so far XD But anyway... It's not so much the different universe that I love (although it's a hilarious one), it's his playing with words and the incredibly sarcastic way of narrating that makes it so wonderful :D
