Windy Poplars is probably my favorite Anne book, too, and now I am mightily curious about what I've been missing all these years. May have to check it out once I've got a little more free time.
The Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul is one of the rare sequels that I like even better than the original book: I think Adams was trying out (very interesting) ideas in Dirk Gently, but didn't quite get all the subplots working in tune.* Teatime does better with this, IMHO, and has some similiar eerie moments and thinky stuff that obviously influenced both Pratchett and Gaiman, and also has a fairly awesome main female character, which is usually not Adams' forte. All around, one of my best-beloved books ever: you should check it out when you've got a chance.
* Hilariously, the main plot mystery alien thing (I'm sorry, I cannot word goodly tonight) is pretty much exactly the same as the plot in the Adams-penned Doctor Who episode "City of Death" - it's just got academics and Bach instead of the Mona Lisa and Four and Romana. I remember the first time I watched "CoD" I kept going, "...This is so damn familiar, why do I know this story?" And then I looked on Wiki and, duh, okay, yes, Adams was reusing a plot.
