Rattlers baseball

The Varsity boys’ baseball teams smokes the Rangers making them 4-0 in the district and 15-1 overall.
Smithson Valley coach, George Proctor thought the home team advantage and the encouraging cheers form the crowd would pump up his Rangers. Apparently pitcher, senior Anthony Vasquez had something else in mind.
Vasquez decided to change things up, “we thought he would throw more heat, but kept us guessing with curveballs,” said Proctor. Vasquez did a great job, by stopping the Rangers’ attempts to advance past second base; he had 78 pitches throughout the game, most of which were sliders, curveballs and speed tosses.
After striking out three Rangers in the first inning, Vasquez had a two RBI singles to help the score seven runs in the second inning. We took advantage of three walks and a hit by Smithson Valley batsman, Bryan Sparkman. Designated hitter Natahial Ramirez also had a two RBI singles during the game.
We got a couple of breaks on a couple of those walks, or it could have been a different inning," said coach Chans Chapman, referring to the fact that all seven runs were scored after Sparkman started the inning with one hit and two strikeouts. "Had he gotten a couple of calls, this might have been a different game." Diamond added two more runs in the fourth inning as he hit two RBI homer into center field.
With the loss, Smithson Valley drops to 3-1 in the district and 10-6 overall. "We can't rest on our performance," said Chapman. "We have 10 more games in our district and we know that we still have to play Smithson Valley again.
