Two Great Tastes That Don't Go Great Together

Remember that old Coca-Cola slogan, "things go better with Coke?" Well, not everything does. Case in point: corn muffins. Coke tastes unpleasantly alkaline after eating a corn muffin. The effect doesn't go both ways: another muffin still tastes just fine.
Oenophiles can't be the only folks who think about pairings. I wonder if anyone's put together something analogous to a "color wheel" for foods?
