[The device has turned on as the result of being violently sent into the nearest wall---by accident, actually, his hand just hit it but such is his luck apparently. There is a muttered curse...]

What are you doi---

Peter?

[ this sounds less...frantic than laurie's post did, but still obviously troubling. ]

[It helps that he was asleep......well maybe he should sound more alarmed, but as it is Peter's gotten accustomed to Weird Things Happening in the City...

This just happens to be an especially unwanted thing. Person. Right.

Needless to say it's a moment before he replies...]

Max. [ he might sound a little out of breath there... because he is. ] Hey.

[ Yes, an attempt at....a casual tone...probably not the best at the moment, however. ]

Hi. [ it's tentative, since he sounds...well, not fine now, but working towards it. which means he probably doesn't want to talk about it and she doesn't know him well enough to push him to. ]

You're...not hurt, are you?

You aren't getting mugged, are you?

[Her tone tries to be sarcastic, but as per usual with Peter, it just comes off as overly tuned in and concerned.]

No. I'm not.

[pause as he looks around but Arthur has 'teleported' away again, as he will be doing all day so that Peter will handily not be able to absolutely ascertain he is nothing but a vision]

Getting mugged.

...is my roommate still a fox?

[No one said his segues were smooth okay...]

[He shuts the device off quickly so he can yell at the dad who isn't really there...]

Somehow it feels wrong to lie to her if we're going to be working together. But---

I think...it's a curse.

[The truth without being too...distinct...or so he tries.]

That was your dad?

[Affected, too, but in a less violent sort of way.]

[Sylar knows better than respond to this post. But he does not envy you today, Peter, even if he has to deal with Samson himself.

...he is keeping an eye out, however, because if the curse is different this year and Arthur is here? Yeah, he'll be joining in to help with that one (not that he can do much with his powers messing up as they are, but still).]

[Understandably, all of it...though in truth Peter does wonder if Sylar might see Arthur too anyway--if he's not really there, if this is the same as it's been or...however one might call it. Because how much of this is about blood relations and relations of the mind...he thinks it's hard to tell sometimes.

In any case, it has never occurred to Peter to wish Arthur on anyone, though often enough he has wished his father was different. For Nathan's sake, yes.

But also for his own.]
