You were Young, you were bright
You were beautiful, you were everything
Anyone could want from a child
You were not supposed to leave this world that way
You were not supposed to leave this world that day
It had been three years now. Three years since his world has fallen apart. Three years since Alex Gaskarth had passed away. He had taken his life three years ago but it still felt to Jack as if it had been yesterday when the sobbing Mrs. Gaskarth had called him.
Alex’ dead had changed him. He became more thoughtful. The first year after his boyfriend’s death he had spent days and days alone in his apartment in Baltimore without seeing anyone. He went out more, later. He knew that Alex would want him to be happy.
You would scribble down the lyrics to your favorite song
On your notebook in school
When your days were long
And it meant so much for me to know
That you meant so much you'll never know
They had met each other in High School. Alex had always been the weird, shy kid who spent his time writing songs and playing guitar rather than going out to party. Jack had been fascinated by him. He was completely different but they fit together like the two pieces of a puzzle.
Jack had never known how broken the older boy had been. Sure, he knew that Alex’ brother had committed suicide, but he had always done his best to let the golden-haired boy know that he was not alone and that he could always rely on Jack.
Jack had loved Alex. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with him.
But now he would never get the chance to tell him all that again. Never.
You're gone and we all miss you
Listen to these songs
You're alive in every one
Are you smiling down
Are you still singing
Were you with us all along
Do you like what we've become
Yes, Alex would keep living in Jack’s heart. He was still alive in some way. Every year, Jack, Mrs. Gaskarth and Mr. Gaskarth would meet on his birthday to talk about Alex. They kept his memory alive.
“Alex, wherever you are now- I hope that you’re happy. I don’t know if maybe you’re standing right now here, by my side, watching me singing along to this song, but I hope that you know that I’ll always love you.”, Jack thought.
Yes, he would always love the older boy, no matter how much time passed, no matter how he moved on with his life. His feelings will always stay the same.
A/N: WARNING! Mentions of suicide!
I don't own anything, the whole thing is inspired by the song "You're Gone" by Good Charlotte.
