The weekend actually started out quite nice. I had a fine Friday evening socializing with
dragonflydreamr and her friends at her combination birthday/housewarming party. Saturday
radiantbaby and I attended
earendel's surprise birthday lunch and saw some old friends I hadn't seen in quite some time.
After lunch and a bit of relaxation we had a very nice dinner at
Mythos Greek Taverna. Dinner was even more delicious than our
recent visit there for lunch. Their melitzanosalata was bright and flavorful. For my entree I ate a wonderful lamb-and-orzo dish whose name I've unfortunately forgotten. We tried their καταιφι (kataifi) for dessert and were quite pleased. And the entire time they had live Greek music playing in the restaurant. It was a very enjoyable dinner.
And then we returned home. Remember that leak I thought I
noticed after my
AC trouble last weekend? The one that I didn't say anything about because it appeared to have gone away? Well, it hadn't gone away. I came home to find water running freely down the fan in my bedroom and into puddles on my bed.
Shit.
A quick cleanup had the fan turned off, the bedding out of the way, a large pot and towel on the bed under the still-leaking fan, and the AC turned off for the weekend. Again. Once I had a moment to think I realized that it must've only just started because there was really very little water on the bedding, and almost none had gotten through to the mattress itself. I tossed the bedding in the laundry and went back upstairs to empty the pan under the air conditioner again. We got to sleep a little late Saturday night.
Sunday was pretty relaxing, all things considered. With
Dennis dropping water around the southeast, the temperature was much milder than last week. I even had the energy to get some cleaning done in the kitchen, and
radiantbaby chatted about some furniture rearrangements we've been planning.
So this morning I'm bringing the AC people out again (!!) to try again (!!) to fix the damned thing. We'll see what happens there. In the meantime, I think I'm going to get some more cleaning done.
(LJ Spellchecker genius of the day: orzo -> Oreo. "Melitzanosalata" has the spellchecker completely stumped.)
