And now I have this expression:
No, not because of the film, because of the huge number of idiots in the theater. I have never been to a movie with such a terrible crowd. There were at least three conversations going on around me, someone with the crinkliest bag of chips that ever existed, and at one point, someone was tapping out a tattoo with their foot (no, not to the music). If it had just been one noisy group I would have tried to say something, but short of standing up and screaming, "SHUT YOUR FRIKKIN' PIEHOLES!" there wasn't much to be done. I was convinced by the end that a bit of random homocide probably wouldn't go amiss in this town. >:(
Though I probably would have loved it more if I wasn't constantly hearing "She looks like she has two black eyes," and other inane comments that would jerk me out of the experience.
I was disappointed that they left out the old woman propositioning Sweeney and Anthony. I thought that was important to the story because it really contrasted with his "and she was virtuous" line. Also, we were horrified at Sweeney stropping his blade backwards and the angle he was using on the Judge's neck. Other than that though, I have few complaints.
Random thoughts:
I thought Johanna was going to get it when Anthony left her in there, dressed like a boy.
I loved comatose!Sweeney from Mrs. Lovett's daydream.
I enjoyed Sweeney and Nellie heckling Pirelli.
How many more times will Helena Bonham Carter be set on fire?
