Metallic gold printing

I've been thinking about this since I found a reference on the Old Bailey Archives to "gold printed waistcoats." I wondered if they meant "gold" in the sense of "yellow" (though I've never seen fabric printed with just yellow). Searching for "gold" seemed to bring up only references to coins, watches, and the like. I couldn't find any use where they likely meant "yellow."

Most people reading this are probably aware of the gown at the V&A that's a floral chintz overprinted with tiny gold polka-dots. This was the only example I could think of, until I found this and this.

Then tonight I found this fabric for sale. If only it had fewer colors! How cool would that be, to have a gold-accented gown?
