My 2011 Playlist
Last year, I created a playlist for a friend who was out of touch with pop culture. It was supposed to be an 'educational tool' so one could say, "oh, I've heard of Taylor Swift and can now name a song she sings" sort of thing. It turned into a bit more of a 'this is what 2010 sounded like to me' kind of thing, and I kinda liked it. So, I thought I'd do it again.
Here are the songs that defined what 2011 sounded like to me. Some/most are your standard Top 40 fare that I couldn't get out of my head (and maybe some I loved more than I will ever admit. All you edgy, cool kids can scoff all you like. I'm just not that hip, ok? :)). Some are more directly relevant to shows I saw and things I did (see the Granada Section). They're definitely not all new songs that came out this year. I added notes for some songs and I also made a YouTube playlist of all them, which you can watch below. Or CLICK HERE

- Grenade - Alex Goot cover (Another YouTuber. Honorable mentions in YouTube cover land go to Sam Tsui/Kurt Hugo Schneider, Christina Grimmie, Luke Conard, and Tiffany Alford - all of whom consistently make covers of songs I think are better than the originals)
