Has anything like this ever happened to you?

So ... I'm driving home this afternoon, fighting the traffic, feeling vaguely guilty for spending too much money shopping and vaguely down and discouraged after a weekend that was depressing for horse-related reasons and so busy that I had no time whatsoever to chat - and a song comes on the radio. The opening chords start, and before I even register what the song is, for some reason I find myself starting to smile, and thinking I *know* this but not quite getting it yet - and then it starts, and It's Barenaked Ladies' "It's All Been Done Before" - and all I can think of is the Media Cannibals vid, which I adore, and seeing the clips in my mind's eye, Duncan and Methos - "I met you, before the West was won" - and I'm just grinning HUGELY, other drivers on the road seeing me are probably giving me a *really* wide berth, and I'm thinking about Vividcon and cons in general fandom and my wonderful fannish friends, and feeling like I know a secret no one around me does, I have this *thing*, I'm part of this world, that makes life better that those poor schleps in their cars are totally missing out on, and suddenly I feel *fantastic*, great, like life is wonderful and what was I moping about anyway?

Man, I love fandom. :-)
