Hooray for a new chappy! It's like Christmas in April. And with this reading, I can now share my entirely fangirly comments. Yay! (FYI, this is the condensed version b/c stupid LJ restricted my character usage AGAIN.)

She decided instead to just sit here, mildly unhinged, willing her best friend to disappear. Both hilarious and poignant - how do you do that? I loved this moment in particular because it's one where Veronica realizes that she's changing and that her priorities and her desires have evolved. Sure that would be scary, but in this instance, I like that it is liberating for her too.

But everything is back to normal. And once again, it is perfectly clear that in Veronica's life, "normal" is not all it is cracked up to be. I loved this little nod to the craptastic S2 “normal is the watchword” theme.

“Oh yes, I’ll remember that, ‘when geriatric lover goes face down in bowl of tapioca consider yourself dumped.’ I’ll bet that’s the first thing they teach you at The Anna Nicole Academy for Gold Digging Tramps.” This just made me laugh my ass off. I've read this story like five times now and it makes me really laugh every time. It just tickles!

Between the goofy horns and the expression on her face, Veronica looks so fucking cute Logan wants nothing more than to scoop her up and kiss her, every inch of him humming he fights the urge, grinning like an idiot instead. And there's the Logan I love, taking joy and relishing in Veronica's passions (even when they concern her humor). Oh Logan, how I wish you would just act on these impulses already!

When they reach the Le Baron she turns around and leans back against the driver’s side door to face Logan, giving him a smile, which he returns as he reaches out to caress her face, a gesture that she secretly loves, one that reminds her just who he is and shakes her all at the same time. OK, this moment just KILLED me for a couple of reasons - one of which I didn't even register during the first few reads. The first is the more obvious I guess - the way Logan knows just how to touch Veronica and the way she can't help but respond because their chemistry is just so damn amazing. The second was how this scene reminded me of the infamous crowbar scene in The Pilot where the two engage in "foreplay" with the LeBaron as the backdrop. Of course there are major differences - in this verse they are friends, in the pilot they were enemies - but the scene resonates with authenticity and just feeds into my feeling that their love is inevitable. Know what I mean?

Then Lilly would encourage her, telling her to “go for it” that if a guy is interested in you and you’re interested in him, well then what’s it matter if he’s got a girlfriend? But the guy is Logan and the girlfriend is Lilly and everything is so messed up that Veronica can’t think straight. Oh, how the irony kills. Although I don't exactly know who your Lilly is in this verse, I still suspect that if the situation were reversed (and Veronica's boyfriend wasn’t Duncan) that Lilly would just do whatever she wanted and damn the consequences. With that in mind, it makes me feel better about Logan not giving in to the impulse to kiss Veronica. Because that shows me that deep down, Logan is far more like Veronica than Lilly in the way he is loyal, honorable and considerate of people that he loves.

Veronica shakes her head, “I haven’t talked to him since we went for our walk,” she heaves a dramatic sigh before continuing, “Something has them seriously occupied.”

“Half-naked Italian men,” Logan concludes. This made me laugh hysterically because, intentionally or not, Logan's response alluded to the fact that half-naked Italian men were making both Lilly AND Duncan preoccupied. It's so juvenile, but it is just so damn funny to me. Makes me wonder if perhaps Logan's subconsciously trying to undermine Veronica's relationship with Duncan. Which, hey - carry on!

“It’s like you knew I’d like it or something.” This line slayed me because once again, Logan knows Veronica and what she really wants/likes/enjoys/desires even before she does and he gives it to her. LOVE THIS.

I guess it goes without saying that I can't wait for Ch. 8, huh? :-)

Alright, this is lazy of me but I totally am not good at leaving feedback and so I'm just going to say: I second everything seluciav said. Particularly the comment that Logan is more like Veronica (in consideration for those he cares about) than he is like Lilly.

The way you wrote the scene with Veronica parked outside the house, silently FREAKING OUT about "Lilly" being there resonated big time - I even had a flippy tummy reading it, that shaky "on the verge of hysterics" feeling. This whole story is written so well, I cannot wait to read more!

Thank you! Feedback of any kind is WONDERFUL! I'm thrilled that you feel the same as Alli and that you felt the "verge of hysterics" feeling because that means I'm expressing what I'm thinking and that means A LOT!!

Thanks again!

Oh Alli, you are TOO KIND!! Thank you!

Veronica has evolved and will continue to within my fic, and I fully believe that even when Veronica was spouting all her "normal" stuff in season 2 I don't think that's what she TRULY wanted, or the "normal" she was striving for no longer existed and she jsut convinced herself - for lots of reasons - that being "normal" would make her happy.

I cannot TELL you how awesome it is that I made you laugh! I really want this fic to feel like the show (save the swears and other naughtiness I'm allowed being that it's not ACTUALLY on TV) and VM was always good at balancing humor and drama so YAY!!

Oh, how the irony kills. Although I don't exactly know who your Lilly is in this verse, I still suspect that if the situation were reversed (and Veronica's boyfriend wasn’t Duncan) that Lilly would just do whatever she wanted and damn the consequences.
Lilly is Lilly in my fic and I ENTIRELY agree that Lilly would have absolutely NO PROBLEM doing whatever she wanted with anyone Veronica was interested in, but I don't think Lilly - when she is giving advice - she's ever thinking that Veronica is direct competition for her.

With that in mind, it makes me feel better about Logan not giving in to the impulse to kiss Veronica. Because that shows me that deep down, Logan is far more like Veronica than Lilly in the way he is loyal, honorable and considerate of people that he loves.
YOU'RE DOING IT AGAIN! You're READING MY BRAIN! There will be talk of both Lilly's lack of conscience when it comes to taking what she wants AND the hows and whys of the lack of kissing. I don't want to say much more than that but STOP SNEAKING PEEKS IN MY HEAD!

Thank you once again for the amazing and detailed feeback!! :D

Sorry! Can't help it. :-) Let's just chalk it up to "great minds think alike" eh?

I did kind of have the feeling that your Lilly in this verse was going to be the girl that did whatever the hell she wanted, and took whatever the hell she wanted and damned the consequences. But of course, like most people who have that outlook on life, she would NEVER condone or forgive anyone else who tried living by her rules. It's don't do as I say OR do because the suspension of rules applies to me and me only. I have a feeling Lilly's going to go completely apeshit when she realizes that Veronica has feelings for Logan and it's only going to get worse when she realizes that those feelings are - what's that phrase? - very much requited.

And you should know that one of the reasons this fic is so popular and well reviewed and basically adored is because you absolutely have managed to find a tone that really evokes the feeling of the show. It never feels fake or has a false note which is why each scene and each exchange between Logan and Veronica is so easy to visualize. Face it T -- you ROCK.
