Cool, where about have you been living/working? Did you enjoy it?
I'm in Hendon/Golders Green (on the border between the two*g*) which is quite nice cause so many parks are quite close like Hampstead Heath and it's still central.
I worked in Acton (near Ealing). I love Hamstead Heath, it's so beautiful!
I didn't really like my family and I don't have any contact with them even though I was there for over nine months. I looked after five children and they were not that nice. I had to work lots of extra hours just like you wrote that you do (in the au pair community). I think I worked 45 hour weeks most of the time :\
Cool, I'm looking after 5 kids between (almost) 2 and 11. I like the family I'm working for. They're nice people (which doesn't mean they don't drive me nuts at least once a week*g*). Yeah, I'm working 45 hours plus a week which is loads especially with uni and stuff. I'm only staying till next summer though and then get a job with less hours so I can concentrate on uni. But I'm gonna go back and visit them.
Next week I'm going on holiday with them which should be fun and I'm quite excited about it.
"My" children were between 6 and 15 so it shouldn't have been that bad but it was. They had grown up with au pairs doing everything for them so they wouldn't even do simple things like make their beds. They were very messy and I spent ages cleaning up after them. The dad wasn't around much and the mother was evil.
I'm glad you like your family!
I live in Ireland right now, I'm a summer au pair. The family I work for is really good and the children are adorable... most of the time.
Sounds terrible...*is glad to not have that kind of family*
Sounds awesome! I wanna go to Ireland again at some point...it's beautiful there.
Do you mind if I friend you? I always love to have other aupairs to talk to.
(random info: There's not gonna be much going on in my journal for the next month though cause we're off to America on Monday (the family and I) and I dunno when I'll have a chance to update...)
