Shit's goin good. My biggest concern right now is finding the right Halloween costume. It should be comfortable (warm), clever or macabre, and be able to be described with a preceding "sexy". I may also be out of a job soon.
I think I'm both doing a good job and doing a good job making sure my bosses know I'm doing a good job. Digest that for a sec; it's good. My task is basically to fix a messed up collection, so I have a good deal of freedom and do a fair amount of problem-solving. That is, I enjoy it. Plus, my knowledge of molluscs grows daily!
Bri came to visit a few weeks ago and we had some fun. Now a Chinese man and his four-year-old live here, or are supposed to anyway. They were here for like three days and have been gone for like two weeks. They did unintentionally inspire me to start brushing up on my 中文 and, boy, I should have gotten Rosetta Stone in Taiwan. In fact, inspiration has been finding me more and more frequently. I'm trying to stay on top of the things I've already taken on, which include regular exercising/yoga (there is a yoga teacher staying in our house!), studying Chinese, and baking so far, but I'm looking to add more to my repertoire. Trivia at a bar, wine Wednesday (feat. cheesy action movies), and paleogeeks (scientific paper review + beer) also make there way into my week. It would probably help if I stopped playing Warcraft, but
I can't! The other weekend I was also asked to be the fossil expert at
Fossil ID Day at the museum, which was pretty fun.
I saw the
Bowerbirds a couple of weeks ago and they were amazing. I found out Monday that I missed
Phoenix Sunday, which bummed me out somewhat.
The leaves are turning and my room is getting really cold at night. I discovered a small waterfall right near my house and am enchanted by my neighborhood in autumn. I do, however, have to wait for the bus at the same time and place as the local middleschoolers, who have reaffirmed my feeling that people between the ages of ten and sixteen are the worst in the world.
But yeah, shit's goin good.
