Just keep on getting sucked in :P

So there's this girl. Named Nana. In the group After School. Who's kinda grabbing all of my attention lately. ^^; It's really interesting in that she has similarities to Jessica of SNSD - maybe I have a thing for girls with an "ice princess" image? - but I don't know enough about her to really go crazy for her. The level I do for SNSD, I mean. At least, not yet~ XD I know that she's got killer lines and is a dork XD but the former is pretty much why I wrote the below commentary on After School's comeback on M! Countdown. The M! Countdown performance of M! Countdown was my favorite 'cause of the outfits and the lightning and well, it was when I realized that Nana was pretty fantastic XD

Reference vid: 120621 M! Countdown, Rip Off & Flashback

Rip Off

0:15 - This was the shot that caught my attention first, how Nana's more upright and facing forward than the others. Also, helps that the camera caught that smirk right before it cut to Raina's legs
0:23 Look at those lines~!
0:26 Note how Nana is more angled/sideways than the others and with her legs together - it all makes for very different lines/angles than the others. The thing with Nana is that she knows her body, knows how to angle herself to make the lines stand out more.
0:28 You have to admit, Lizzy looks damn hot as a blonde (though it keeps throwing me off when I'm looking for Nana!)

One of the other comeback performances shows off Nana better during her line, but look at her at 0:40, when they're snapping. Again, she's more upright than the others and it looks like she's leading with her hips (I noticed that too in the making of Flashback, how she walks with her hips forward, no doubt due to her modeling background)

0:40 Twins, look at em! Took me a while to separate Lizzy from Nana in this performance, but once I noted nana's posture, it's been easier to spot her.
0:42 Lovelovelovelove how the tailcoats trail behind them during this formation change!
0:52 Yep. XD
1:07 Kept spotting nana there in the background XD Also, have I mentioned how much I like Jungah's voice in this song?
1:11 It's so interesting how they've changed Raina's makeup and hair to make her face look a little longer
1:19 Love Lizzy's expression and her little shrug here
1:34 Jooyeon constantly reminds me of a Japanese actress, but I can never figure out who! Love the force she has in putting down her cane at 1:42
1:53 Love how Nana's just sauntering to the front XD
1:56 Can we take a moment to compare Raina and Nana's posing? Look at how low Nana is and how her balance is a little forward, allowing her to show off more curves than Raina
1:58 Lovelovelove the lighting here
2:01 Pro Lizzy finding the camera here
2:09 And this is why I love this particular performance - the lighting, this still shot of the poses and formation and that wonderful close up on Nana <3
2:22 Ah, so what sets Nana apart is that she's not afraid to go low - it definitely works the thighs more but it allows for more pronounced lines/curves and movement like in this hip pop
2:36 It's very quick, but I really like how Lizzy seems to pull out a second body wave as she transitions out of that pose

The only note I want to make about Flashback (not that I didn't like it - it's just that I'd be pointing out every single second XD) is the moment during the breakdown, during Lizzy's line, "down down..." at around 5:07, they all lean over, and there's a mess of hair, right? It's very quick, but Nana just totally owns that move and combs her hair back while everyone else is still kinda recovering. So. Pro. Also at around 5:10, the camera pulls back from Raina and Nana's body is in such an awesome curve I just can't even XD

Btw, much as I wish they hit the choreo during that dubstep portion harder, I rather like choreo better than the dubstep part in SNSD's Paparazzi xP Actually, it's really interesting to look at the differences between the two groups in terms of choreography. I mean, AS is only 1 less than SNSD right now, and in this song, they're really playing with formations, which I love. I mean, i'm a sucker for that formation coming out of the dubstep at 5:45, when each member comes out behind the other. But AS accentuates different body lines in different ways than SNSD so it's interesting to watch.

Also, AS and Amuro Namie won for Best Collab MV at MTV VMAs in Japan! SNSD also won best album, but I don't know how that happened ...

Anyway, time for me to keep getting sucked into After School xP
