I got this one from Linda Hoyland.
1. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?
After the final LOTR movie came out in 2002 my sister asked me to write a sequel for her because she could not bear to live without anymore LOTR. I obliged and wrote something called "The Lord of the Jewels" over the next year or so. It's on ff.net although I don't think I posted it all, but I have long since finished writing the entire thing. I had forgotten about it, but should probably go back and post the rest in case anyone is still reading it.
2. Is there anything you regret writing?
Some of my early, over-wrought sexy stories.
3. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
I'm rather happy with "There Shall be Found A Seedling" on AO3, which is about Faramir, Aragorn and Eowyn. I found it rather uplifting because it speaks to light and hope in the world.
4. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit?
All my early ones
5. What’s your most popular fanfic?
It's one based on The Hobbit! It's on AO3 and is called "For The Greater Good".
6. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?
I write mostly fic based on The Silmarillion. It's very easy to find titles within the text of that book. I usually read about the characters or storyline as written there and come up with some words or a phrase that seems to describe the story I've written. I write the fic first, then find a title for it. And if that method eludes me then I will read about JRR Tolkien himself and can usually come up with something based on his own feelings or intentions as described by others.
7. What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?
Writing summaries is horrible. I absolutely hate it and usually write horrible ones that would fail to attract anyone to the story.
8. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?
I'd be thrilled with fan art for any of my stories, no idea what an artist would choose.
9. Do you have a beta reader?
Not anymore. I used to use them and found them to be most helpful, but in recent years I have not wanted to burden anyone and feel that if I am careful I should be able to edit my stories myself.
10. What inspires you to write?
I usually write best for exchanges or challenges, because I don't have to think of an idea by myself. I find inspiration from the suggestions of others works best for me.
11. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?
People have said many nice things about it. Probably the nicest was when I was told that my characters seem full of life.
12. Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of
music does it for you?
I have to have silence when I write. Music makes me listen to it and become involved with it too much, which takes my mind right off the story I'm writing.
