Life's a song you don't get to rehearse, and every single verse can make it that much worse...

Ahh, the power of proactive thinking. And sleep. And angsting.

But I do feel better now.

I rested my voice today and made the ultimate not-getting-sick drink (I started to feel the tickle--you know what I mean): Orange-pinapple juice with echinecea (sp?) and vitamin c powder. It was lovely; you all should really try it--especially singers. I think I just overused the finer pieces of punctuation. Oh well.

What did I do today? Work was good. I was given the task of doing individual scenes with the leads by Elaine, which made me feel all important and special. I coached the Will Parkers (2 casts) on the "attitude" of the character and we sung Kansas City a capella. It was adorable, because they're 10. And one of them's a girl. Also, today Katie made some remark about me being the "leader" of our cast, among the counselors, which was flattering, even though Kate really is. I also got to bond with Kate during snack, and she was just like "I think you should be my new best friend now" and I was like "YES!" so we have to hang out. And I think if we put Kate and Suzie in the same room together, the world would implode from the awesomeness. But that is my goal.

I was pretty much falling asleep the whole time, but I got through it.

Then I came home, and actually was productive. I went to the gym with my sister, for a one-day trial. I did 25 minutes on the ellipticals while I listened to "Scotty Doesn't Know," "Dr. Jones," and various rap/techno, so that I could pedal to the beat. I did the treadmill for awhile, did some crunches, and used a few of the upper body machines. I don't think I did that much, but at least I went. And I might start going next year (especially with no Jump Rope Club....tear, I need gym credit!), but I really want a gym buddy (not in the sexual way), and most of the people I would ask are leaving. Any volunteers?

At rehearsal tonight we did "This Plum is Too Ripe" (yes that is in fact a song), and as much of the rest of Act II as we could. The song was funny though because Miriam and I kept fighting over who gets the good plum (there were 2) and came to the conclusion that we would have to seduce Will for it (since he hands out the props in the show). I still maintain that I would be extrememly good at that. Perhaps even better than Miriam.

Had an odd conversation outside during scenes I wasn't in, which basically consisted of Ian trying to rape Miriam, me trying to sketch Ian out by pretending to kiss him (unfortunately he just leaned in more), and Stuntz and I fake making out while Emma H. and Mims did the same.

What I love about theatre people, teachers included, is you can make any sexual joke around them and no matter how dirty, kinky, or twisted it is, people will laugh, and not judge you. Seriously, I walked into a conversation about the "trendiness" of bisexuality between Miriam, Ian, and Margot. It was hillarious.

We're getting t-shirts soon! Ian wanted them to say "Ms. Law's favorites 2005" and then "Except for Tim" on the back, but Tim threatened to "pee in [his] mouth," so he relented. They're going to say "Advanced Actors' Guilde, Fall 2005" or something like that. They're going to be YELLOW.

But anyway, enough with my theatre talk. Speaking of me being a nerd, here's proof:

Pure Nerd

56 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 34% Dork

For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being
smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or
subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social
expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in all Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure
Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally
smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up
all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer.
Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more
so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be
replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
Congratulations!

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 52% on nerdiness

You scored higher than 66% on geekosity

You scored higher than 49% on dork points
