It just goes to show what the true power of facebook and a couple of years of tension can do to the Christmas Number One chart.
It's malicious and its cynical and it probably makes me a bad person, but I took part in the Rage Against the X Factor campaign and I am glad that this year's number one is Killing In The Name by Rage Against The Machine and not The Climb by Joe McElderry. Why? a.) Because I adore Rage Against The Machine anyway, and b.) Because I am sick of X Factor winners instantly being "entitled" to the number one spot at Christmas. Plus it shows that yes, we can beat The X Factor, so maybe next year some musician who is just starting out might get a chance rather than being overshadowed by someone completely and utterly manufactured. Sure it's very sad that the poor kid has got campaigned against, but hey he's won the contract of his dreams and I am sure that he'll get every oppurtunity to have lots of top singles in the future. :) In the mean time, we have a kick arse song for Christmas Number One. :D
