Oh why is he so bloody thick sometimes. Although one thing I have to say is that bit about his mother, it explains so much, and it just makes me want to hug the poor bugger. I love how you develop everyone's story just that little bit more in every instalment of this series; it just makes it that bit more special!
And as for the compassion, it's nice to know he always had it, that it had just been crushed so completely that he never wanted to give it up again.
As for Jack and Ianto. Gosh I loved that section so much. The betrayal was so raw, and then the way they dealt with it, moved on, made their decision despite Ianto not wanting to get Jack hurt. God it just made the whole relationship stronger in my opinion! I mean I love how dynamic you've made their relationship, while still having it in character!
And submissive!Jack. Bloody hell. Never thought I'd see that, but in a way it makes complete sense. It's strange and painful to imagine it, but at the same time, seems like a possibility.
And as for John and Tel at the end. Bloody hell, I'm so glad he was there to save her, and that that bit of compassion made him do it. I love that pair! I mean, the way she was so trapped, and just...I can't even put into words how happy I am that he's realised he needs her. :D YAY is all that covers it at the minute.

But in short...because it is John. Haha he is such a fool. But yays!! You liked his mother back story, I always wanted to give him a bit of an explanation for why he is such a bastard sometimes. :P But awww thank you! In fairness I am far too into writing back stories, but to know you likes it, well that makes me grin a bit madly. :P
I'm also glad that you think the very twisted Janto in this is getting stronger...it is supposed to be, in a very dysfunctional kinda way. :P But argh!! Thankies, to know it was in character, well, this makes me happy. Haha and I quite liked submissive!Jack for a change, one day I vow to explore it properly.
As for John and Tel...well I feel John gets the rough end of the stick enough times, so here he deserves a bit of happiness, not that its going to last at TOATA mind you. :P
