Dad Update: Mar 7, 2011
My Uncle Steve and Aunt Lynn put it best, so I'll let you read their kind words.
Lynn--I have always thought that we had a close knit family, but through all this tragedy and crisis, we have all learned so much more about each other, where we came from and the fabulous foundation we are based on. Our brother Scott, is an inspiration to us all. Through all of this he has been worried about everyone else. We have all cried, held hands, bared our to anyone to see...AND HE SMILES! I'm going to my brothers' house tomorrow (Scott's), along with his wife, Stacy, my other brother Steve, and Mom and Dad. The hospital is taking Scott to the house to evaluate the house and what will be needed to properly keep him safe. We will all be trained on how to get him in & out of a car, bed etc. We all look forward to being there for him and to a Happy return to his Wife, Dogs and Home.
Steve--SPENT THE DAY WITH SCOTT AND WENT WITH HIM TO ALL HIS REHAB SESSIONS. HE CONTINUES TO IMPROVE IN ALL AREAS AND IS WALKING ON HIS OWN FOR THE MOST PART, BUT ONLY IN REHAB... AFTER REHAB IT BACK TO THE WHEELCHAIR. HIS SPIRITS ARE GREAT AND HIS ATTITUDE IS EXTREMELY POSITIVE. HE IS ONE TOUGH COOKIE. HE STILL ENCOURAGES THOSE AROUND HIM TO KEEP TRYING AND HE HAS MAKE A LOT OF FRIEND THERE WITH PATIENTS AND STAFF ALIKE. WHEN HE WAS NAPPING, PEOPLE APPROACHED ME... THEY KNEW WHO I WAS B/C WE LOOK SO MUCH ALIKE... THEY SHARED THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH SCOTT AND THEIR APPRECIATION FOR HIS POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND WILLINGNESS TO HELP EVERYBODY ELSE. THERE IS A LADY THERE WHO IS QUITE WITHDRAWN. SHE ALSO HAD A STROKE... WORSE THAN SCOTT'S. SHE CAN'T TALK AT ALL. SCOTT SPENT TIME WITH HER AND WHEN SHE FINALLY SMILED, HE SAID, THERE YOU ARE, NOW I CAN SEE YOU IN THERE. VERY TOUCHING, AND NOW WHEN WE PASS HER IN THE HALL, SHE BLOWS HIM A KISS AND SHE LIPS, 'I LOVE YOU.' IN SPITE OF SCOTT'S CONDITION WHICH IMPROVES DAILY, HE IS MAKING A HUGE IMPACT ON EVERYBODY THERE. AND ONE THERAPIST SAID SHE WISHED SCOTT WOULD STAY ON AS A PROFESSIONAL CHEERLEADER B/C HE HAS HAD SO MUCH IMPACT THERE. SCOTT CONTINUES TO BE MY VERY PERSONAL HERO AND SOME DAY I CAN ONLY HOPE TO BE SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO THOSE AROUND ME. I AM SO SO BLESSED TO HAVE HIM AS A BROTHER. THE PLAN IS TO GO BACK DOWN NEXT MONDAY, SO TUNE IN FOR MORE NEXT MONDAY NIGHT. THANKS FOR THE PRAYERS.
