Hot from the 10pm news! Census had shown that the average household income of a Singaporean family had increased by 9% from last yr (or the last survey).
Based on the inexorable fact of the soon-to-be-hike-up transport fares (by 12 or 13 cents) and starting taxi fares are gonna go up by 10 cents, i surmise that before the 3rd quarter of 2006 is out, another thing is gonna go up - our beloved as-of-present 5% GST.
Now... I can't help but ponder.... which households did the census survey to get this 9% average increase?
Not as if the government is doing a bad job BUT too many times, i find myself wishing that PAP can be less hypocritical. Want to make money by increasing taxes n expenses, just say so. Nothing irks me more than coming up with a silly study / survey / census that rationalizesa foregone decision.
9% Increase in Household Income? Bahhh! *snorts in disdain*
The perfect song for this entry. Tsk Tsk.
