In Singapore, working in the civil service means that we work for the ruling political party. They r inter-changeable & synonymous; PAP, Singapore, the civil service etc etc.
While by right, these government organisations are supposedly just agencies tasked to carry out errands more efficiently - OUR needs & OUR errands, if you know what i mean.
No wonder the PAP can use HDB upgrading to entice ppl to vote for them. How ungentlemanly when HDB or Town Councils can delay or withheld funds that should be utilized EQUALLY for each and every ward.
I very much lament the fact that i could not vote. Having stayed in a ward that was always hotly contested (and booting out one minister 3 elections back when PAP loses my area to SDP), it was quite a disappointment.
Maybe i should consider moving to AMK if our dearest PM Lee loses his GRC.
On a side note, can our PM still retain his PM-post if he LOSES his ward? Would not that be interesting....? *muses*
