It's funny how as you sidle through life, different things become more or less important to you.

I rent a property at the moment, and it has a sizeable garden, being an old Victorian terraced, and I'm investing a fair amount of time in trying to make said garden look nice. I used to hate gardening as a youngster - but saying that, I didn't really do any! Now I take a quiet pride in nurturing that little green space and making it a place me and my dog can sit out in in the warmer weather. I've got a couple of feeders for the birds and one of those insect hotel things - whether or not they actually work, it looks cute! It's coming together. :)

I've just ordered a compost bin and a caddy for the kitchen so I can start recycling my food waste and I'm more excited than I should be about this prospect. I'm also glad I found the website http://www.getcomposting.com/ before I bought any of the composting goods elsewhere because they offer them at Council-subsidised prices, which helps people like me who don't earn as much as they'd like (or have rather to many outgoings... some of those loan pay-offs finish next year, thank God, so there should be more free cash in my account).

I've just got the back of my garden to sort out because it's full of rubbish left by previous occupants, such as old fence panels and posts, and it's also the home to a few spikey brambles which I'm battling to remove, but hopefully it'll soon look nice and function well.

If I then get asked to leave the property once I've got this garden right I'll cry though!
