I watched them while everyone else talked and saw the little things that everyone took for granted. I saw how easily he slung his arm over the back of her chair, and how her hand rested casually on his thigh. I saw how she smiled and blushed at whatever he whispered in her ear while the conversations continued on between Radek, John, and Elizabeth. None of them could see what I saw because Rodney and Teyla were no longer a secret, but I knew it wasn’t the whole secret. No one could see that jealousy had blue eyes, not green.

The entire infirmary stopped as they looked with surprise at the usually calm Dr. Beckett. He stepped forward, gripped Rodney by his arm and physically threw him out with Teyla following right behind. She placed a hand upon his shoulder, only to have it shrugged off.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Rodney yelled from the ground.
“I cannae take it anymore! I would appreciate it if you would take your flirtin’ somewhere else.” He closed his eyes and sighed. “Please leave.”
Everyone watched as Carson turned away from his friends and locked himself in his office.

I wasn’t going to deny that. I contemplated trying to explain the situation to John, in order to answer that unasked question, but I knew it would be useless. Besides, my love life was none of his damned business.
“Do you even know what’s going on, Rodney?”
John seemed really upset. Maybe I should tell him something. So, I nodded, since I did know what was happening and tried my best to reply without giving too much away.
“I’ve already lost one person I care about. I might as well make it a nice even two.”

He had figured that Teyla would be the one to approach him first. Instead, he found the note with neat loopy handwriting letting him know that dinner was at the normal time that night, and if he wanted an I’m sorry then he better show up on time or else.
There was a knock in his doorway and he saw Teyla holding an identical piece of paper in her hand.

The ring seemed to be important to them, but she couldn’t quite understand why it would move someone to tears, as it had done with the man in front of her.
She furrowed her brows and looked up at Rodney. “What exactly is this for?”
“Marriage. Well, sort of. More like a promise. It's the three of us together always.”
