I know that, at times, it's necessary for some sites to have some sort of verification system set up to prevent bots from automatically creating accounts. However, I (and a few others I've talked to) are getting frustrated with the Captcha thing, or whatever is it some sites use. Preventing a computer from reading it seems to also prevent a human from reading it, too.
They use uppercase and lowercase characters on a severe slant, they mix serif and non-serif fonts, they overlap things, and everything runs together. Is that an 'n' or an 'r'? Or, is that a lowercase 'l' and a '3', or is it a capital 'B'? Who knows? It took me nine tries to get into my Yahoo mail - I had no problem remembering my username and password, but having to type those stupid little letters and numbers fucked me up, and I got something wrong the first eight times because squinting, turning my head, standing back or getting closer didn't do me one fucking bit of good. And, hitting the 'hearing impaired' button (I'm not, but if it could spell it out that would help) doesn't do shit, either, since it all sounds like one fucking jumble of noise. HISSSSSSS*DURR*HISSSSSSS*GRONK*HISSSSS*URP*
I wish I'd thought of screencapping some of the verification codes, just so I could get some input to see what everyone else thinks they were, but I didn't, and by the time I did think of it, I was in. But, I'm cranky now.
