The loft was remarkably quiet and though light streamed through the windows, a coldness descended over all. Jim sat on the corner of the sofa, with a heavy heart. He didn't even pretend to mask his feelings. This was a moment he couldn't have predicted, plotted or felt with all of his enhanced senses.

Watching Blair move silently, checking that he'd packed everything, Jim could only feel a deep and profound sadness. This parting would be the most difficult he'd ever had in his life. If there was one person, one soul on Earth, that he'd opened up to and trusted with his life, it was Blair Sandburg. And even with acknowledging that truth, he also knew that he would done the same for Blair. To that end, he was invested in Blair's happiness. Over the past months, he could see that Blair had become anything but happy.

"Well, that's it," Blair said, walking over.

It was hard to look at Jim, but he forced himself to do it anyway. The only thing left was goodbye.
