...finding myself in the sky...
hmm..is it somesort of fatness complex that asian girls have? Sure in japan and such, the average size is about a size 6-8..but in the US, it's a size 12. hmm..so if you don't look like a model, you are fat. and unlike N. Americans cultural behaivior, chinese mothers have no sense of subtility. My firend can home from england after teaching there for one year. her mother meets her at the airport, and the first thing that is said to her isn't "hi,welcome back." or "We missed you, how was your trip"..it was "you've gain so much weight! so fat now, you must diet.you never gonna get husband is you so fat. " Imagine what that does to your mind and your sense of self after hearing this day in and day out. I know i've gotten that sort of verbage from my mom, even though i do love her. and every single one of my female asian friends have expierianced something of that sort, unless they were adopted. it's scary how this image of "you aren't perfect unless you are skinny" and "you are a worthless piece of garbage if you are fat" kind of mentality is set in . no wonder women feel as if they have to make themselves up and starve themselves to please others. I'll confess, i'm not a size six, i'm a size 10, and i'm happy. Sure i do have that piece of pie on thanksgiving, and i have no qualms having a scoop of red bean ice cream. Being healthy and watching your weight, do no mean you have to give up food that you love. And unless you think you need to change, you don't have to. It is your life, and your body, live it as you choose, not how others think it should be . There fore the motto is "Change only if you want to change."
