Family!
Violet meets her cousins
Originally uploaded by junquegrrlOn Thursday morning I got a call from cousin Jon (these are some of the cousins on my mom's side that I've only just connected with in the last seven years or so); they were on their way up from Virginia to visit Jon's mother in Maine and wanted to stop in Providence on their way through to say hi and meet Violet. It's been great to connect with Jon and his family as well as his sister and her family both... but Eric and I have a soft spot for this family in particular. Jon is the one who owns and runs a tofu company (Sunergia) and he and Marsha are just warm, laid-back people (more vegetarians! I love it) and their kids are absolutely terrific.
Anyway, Eric's folks were already here, so I sent them out to the store to pick up some lunch fixings; and called Eric to have him bike home for lunch. Jon, Marsha, Cora and Ben arrived around noon and the house was full of people! I'm such a weirdo and had such an isolated upbringing that it feels novel, exciting and a little scary to have a houseful of people... let ALONE family! Here is 17 year-old Cora and her 11 year-old brother Ben, cooing over Violet :-)
I want more of that - my house full of food, friends, family, laughter, cats underfoot, babies and grandparents and general Good Vibes. I want Violet to grow up surrounded by that kind of happy chaos :-)
