I’m stretched as thin as
the moon, one day past new.
I’d like to feast on lines
like Whitman, to glut myself
with other people’s voices,
to experience other minds
as my own. but now,

So, I stopped writing Break Maiden poems because they were hard to do and were taking up a lot of time that I didn't feel like I could spare. What was hard was coming up with the content of the poems with just the titles to go on; every day I had to reinvent the wheel, since the poems really weren't very related to each other. So, I doubt that whoever named their racehorse "Kali's Courage" had the Tantric goddess in mind, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to do a poem for her. What I did here was interweave text from Kali's mantras (italicized) with explanatory text from David Kinsley's Tantric Visions of the Divine Feminine. Enjoy.

The categories they list are "love," "weddings," "autumn," "sadness," "pets," and "funerals."
