Now I ask, if you're sexually active, are you getting tested regularly? Did you know that if you have other STDs you're risk for HIV infection increases? Do you know about post exposure prophylaxis (PEP)? If you have sexual contact with someone and the condom breaks and they are of questionable risk, and it's within 72 hours, go to the doctor and ask for PEP. It's anti-retroviral drugs you take for a month and it prevents you from becoming infected with the virus! How cool is that? The only downside is that it's expensive.
Other facts: 52% of HIV infected people in the world are women, HIV infection among the 50+ age group is rising, and that the symptoms of seroconversion (where you go from HIV- to HIV+) are similar to having a flu (though some people experience no symptoms).
