1000 paper cranes

So I got it in my head today that I want to try and make 1000 paper origami cranes. I may not start anytime soon because I don't want to just throw them some where to have them get squished or ripped, I want to be able to display them. And right now, there isn't really anywhere I could do that. I'm planning on hanging them from the ceiling by string, so maybe I could do that in my room here at home, but I was thinking when I have my own place I would. I looked on Amazon and they actually sell packs of 1000 sheets of paper! haha and for only around $10, not bad!

I've had the idea to do this for awhile and found on the internet, some people actually have done it. It a Japanese legend that if you fold one thousand paper cranes, you get a wish. I'm currently reading "Linger" and this legend is mentioned in the book, so it just reminded me today. I really want to do it. Lately, when ever I get a scrap of paper, I try and make a crane out of it. Last time I tried thought, I missed a step and couldn't remember what it was. So it didn't turn out right. And I couldn't fix it then. So I need to look up the correct way and practice some so I remember it.

Today was not very exciting. We sat around in front of the tv most of the day, I did some reading. When I woke up, my dad had gotten out old VHS tapes of Saturday Night Live episodes from the 80's. It was pretty funny watching those! He wants to try and get those onto my computer through a firewire cable and put them on DVDs.

I did a search for "1000 paper cranes" and some of the pictures are amazing! You don't fully appreciate how many one thousand is until you see all these cranes. Here's one picture I liked:
