So I sat down to look at the wedding photos from the summer past, for my mother and step-dad. I apologize for not really highlighting much of that amazing time here in my journal, as I had promised. I guess it was just so profound and huge that I'm still daunted by the thought of putting it into text. It felt bittersweet to look at three albums filled with AMAZING pictures, from the rehearsal party up at my aunt's house overlooking the Atlantic ocean from a hill.. to the rehearsal at the church.. the wedding, the reception..
There was just so much love and family, and part of me longs to go back in time and do it all over again. The week was whirlwind, especially looking back upon all the PLANNING that everyone from here and across the country had to hammer out. All of that year culminating into that precious week, that DAY. I guess I'm homesick, but I'm not sad. I have this immense longing in the pit of my stomach just BEGGING to save up for a ticket and go home again.
I just look at everyone's faces in these pictures.. how radiant my mother was (and still is), how stately my step-dad was... my grandmother was so healthy and happy that day. Cousins, uncles, aunts, friends... it was pure nirvana for everyone to be together again. Not just that, and to see how readily and warmly my step-dad's side of the family was welcomed into mine.
I thought I'd finally share some photos from this event. Just a few pictures of the people who mean so very much to me. There are so many here. Just keep one thing in mind though.. these will come from Tripod. Which leads me to say this!
Tripod is a nob when it comes to sharing pictures.. if you guys try clicking these links you'll likely get an error message. Copying the URL then pasting will make the images accessible. I didn't want to put these on Deviantart solely because I don't want them to be seen on such a wide scale.
Hope you like. :)
Taken in New Waterford, Cape Breton. (Nova Scotia) - August 12th, 2006.
http://naefalia.tripod.com/coast.jpgMy parents, just after their wedding.. down on Low Point just outside of the hometown of my mother and myself: New Waterford.
http://naefalia.tripod.com/weddingparty.jpgAnnnndd.. the wedding party. Naturally, the bride and groom in the center. Far left is my step-dad's brother Matt, who was the best man. Below Matt happens to be my beautiful little cousin Becky (the flower girl). Just below my mother is Joshy, who was the ring-bearer. The far right? Yours truly.
http://naefalia.tripod.com/family.jpgA nice picture of my folks, with my older brother Kris and myself behind them. My brother has come a long way, and it was fantastic that he made it down to join us. He gave my mother away during the ceremonies, as our grandfather has long since passed. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to keep my eyes dry, lol. Kris is in the Forces, and he lived in Halifax at this time. Nowadays, he is in Kingston, Ontario, embarking upon another level of his training.
http://naefalia.tripod.com/thenandnow.jpgA little interlude. Thought I'd share this, hahaha. Basically two pictures of my mom and brother, ten years apart. To the left, my brother's graduation from high school in 1996. Right.. the wedding, of course. n_n .. it was a bit of a rush to put the two together.
http://winuvielle.tripod.com/wedding2.jpgJumping on over to my other site, here's a picture of myself, my mother and my cousin before the wedding, posing for shots. ^^
http://winuvielle.tripod.com/cross.jpgI can say that I didn't cry ONCE during thew whole day, for that wedding. Everyone else was in variable states of weeping at different times but I focused on keeping a straight face and making people laugh. Succeeded? Yes! But the part that got me was when myself, my mother and step-dad, and some of my cousins and aunts (from my mom's side) all went down to the graveyard where my grandfather sleeps. We all laid white roses, and frankly.. I bawled, lol. This picture is beautiful.. from his graveyard.
... well, I guess that'll do it. Sorry it took so long to share these.
