tumblr prompt: "[...] kid! Kris stealing kid!Joonmyun's first kiss in the playground?"

Yifan pouts when their teacher opens the door and all of the other kids in the room run out towards the open playground. He continues scribbling on his paper, smiling when he recognizes a cartoon character in his drawing. Kyungsoo, their teacher, kneels down beside him and smiles.

"Hi, Yifan," he says gently. "Why don’t you go outside and play with your other friends?"

Yifan, a kid of few words, shakes his head and goes back to his drawing. He doesn’t like the playground. He doesn’t like the other kids. They’re mean and they smile and laugh while Yifan sits in the corner and eats his sandwich.

The teacher sighs. he stands up abruptly when he sees a shadow by the door. “Joonmyun! What do you need?”

The little kid, with his light brown hair and angelic smile, shuffles into the room and reaches for the cap that he left on the shelf. He can’t reach it with his tiny legs and grabby hands, so he looks up at the man with teary eyes.

"Yifan, can you help Joonmyun get his cap? I have to do something." He walks away and leaves the two kids alone.

Yifan puts down his crayons and reaches for the cap at the highest shelf. He’s always been a bit tall for a six year-old. Joonmyun only reaches up to his nose, looking up at him and smiling when he puts on the cap.

Joonmyun grabs his hand and pulls him towards the playground. “Come on, Yifan.” He stumbles over the pronunciation of Yifan’s name, but he just smiles and tugs even harder at his hand. “Let’s play.”

The older boy looks back at his drawing for the last time before Joonmyun finally pulls him out of where he was standing still like a statue.

Joonmyun is the nicest kid in his class.

He plays with Yifan like they’ve been best friends forever, and even if they can’t really understand each other because Yifan grew up in China and Joonmyun still struggles with pronouncing things, the only thing they need is a tug on each other’s hand and they just understand.

Yifan walks out of the school with a big smile on his face. Teacher Yixing, the art teacher that liked to teach him how to draw after class, said he was really improving and gave him some juice and crackers. He pats his full tummy and pouts when he sees the puddles on the sidewalk. Yifan brings out his tiny umbrella and continues walking, stepping on the puddles with his big rainboots.

He passes by the gate of the playground and sees a kid sitting on the swing set, wet and crying. He doesn’t see his big brother and his pretty car yet, so Yifan pushes the gate open and walks in.

Yifan goes closer to the boy, putting the umbrella over his head. The boy looks up and Yifan finally recognizes Joonmyun’s eyes looking up at him. The little kid sniffles and wipes his eyes, shivering in his wet clothes.

"Yifan…" Joonmyun says quietly. He holds Yifan’s free hand and squeezes it tightly. "Papa left me. Papa isn’t going to come."

He looks sad and Yifan doesn’t like it when Joonmyun is sad, even if they’ve just played with each other for a day.

Yifan remembers something that he saw while his brother was watching TV before. The guy would kiss the girl and after that the girl and the guy were both really happy.

He wants to make Joonmyun happy.

Joonmyun stands up and pouts even harder. He looks at Yifan with red eyes, puffy from crying while being alone in the middle of the rain.

Yifan bends down a little, pressing a kiss against Joonmyun’s cheek. The tiny boy doesn’t look any happier, so Yifan tries again.

He kisses Joonmyun on the lips.

Joonmyun squeezes his hand, looking down. “Don’t be sad, Joonmyun.”

The younger kid looks up when he hears Yifan’s voice for the first time. He smiles widely and the happiness spreads to Yifan, making the taller boy smile as well.

They look out of the gate fence when they hear a car pulling up. Yifan recognizes it as his brother’s car. Luhan walks out of the car and looks for Yifan desperately. He smiles when he sees the six year-old with someone in the playground.

"Hey, Yifan. Sorry I’m late. Let’s go; I have someone I need you to meet," he says. Yifan tries to run to him, but he feels Joonmyun’s hand on his and he shakes his head, refusing to move.

Joonmyun tries to let go of his hand, but Yifan holds on tighter. Luhan smiles. “I’m happy you made a new friend, Yifan. But we really have to go now.”

When Yifan still stands like a statue and the kid tries to shake his hand away, Luhan tries to talk to the other one. “What’s your name?”

"Kim Joonmyun," he replies politely.

"Why are you here? Doesn’t your mama or baba pick you up?"

He can almost see a fresh batch of tears spring up in his eyes. “Papa left me.” He starts crying and Luhan awkwardly pats his head to calm him down.

The gate makes a creaking sound as it opens again. This time, Yixing’s the one stepping in. Luhan grins when he sees him, standing up to greet him.

Yifan doesn’t pay attention to them, even as Luhan completely ignores him to talk to Yifan’s teacher. Joonmyun is still crying beside him, and he puts down the umbrella and pats his shoulder.

Yixing shakes Luhan’s arm away from where it’s wrapped comfortably around his waist. He approaches the crying boy, wiping his tears away with a clean handkerchief.

"Joonmyun, stop crying now. I’ll call your papa and tell him you’re waiting inside the classroom with me, okay? Now come on and I’ll get you some clean clothes before you get sick," he says gently. Joonmyun finally listens and hesitantly lets go of Yifan’s hand. He waves at the other boy, smiling a little at him.

"So good with kids, Yixing," Luhan teases, and the younger man rolls his eyes. He pecks the elder’s lips quickly before walking away.

"I’ll see you at dinner later. Someone needs to meet you." Luhan makes a subtle gesture towards his younger brother and Yixing nods in understanding. He walks with Joonmyun into the school building.

Luhan turns back to his brother. “Let’s go home, champ.”

Yifan holds his hand and they walk into the car. He sees Joonmyun through a window and smiles. He likes making Joonmyun happy.
