no worries, it's not an epic - the entire fic will only be about 50,000 words. hmm, you could print it out and save it to read on the airplane when you fly over to texas next summer....
Well, in theory that's not a bad idea, but the laptop is old and heavy, and I'm not even sure we have a CD drive to put in it.... The husband says I ought to take it with me, but I'm reluctant - surely it's just another thing to lug around? (Plus cables and adapter plugs for recharging, and a spare battery, and no doubt other bits and bobs.) And if I get bitten by any plot bunnies, I can always jot down the outlines in the prehistoric way.
It is curious, though, that I find it almost impossible to get writing with pen and ink these days. Manipulating text is so much easier on the computer - it's so very *fluid*, and when you make corrections it doesn't look like a disheartening page of scribbles, it is still clean.
However, I doubt very much that I will have time or inclination to write while away. Always supposing I go. Oh, hang on, hours and hours and hours and hours in a plane. Hmm. Yes.
(writes letter) Dear Santa, I needs a new lightweight laptop with Windows OS or a Mac, 'cos Max OS X is based on open source, which prolly makes it kosher to my hubby.
