She smiles as she sees the bouquet of flowers in front of her door. There are twelve of the sweet smelling red blooms, roses, if she remembers correctly. There is no card attached and nothing to hint at who they came from. But deep in her heart, she already knows.
The next gift to arrive is a box of chocolates. The box tells her they are from a place called Belgium. She wonders how hard it was for him to get them, and she wonders how long he plans on playing this game. A smile forms on her lips as an idea occurs to her.
That day at lunch she brings the chocolates with her, and freely enjoys them after the meal. She offers to share, but all the men refuse. She notices the twinkle in his eyes, and the smile that’s lit up his face. She returns the smile, and resists doing something overt, something she’s sure her other teammates would notice. So she merely smiles back, hoping that she is conveying the message she so desperately wishes him to know.
The heart he’s been trying to hard to win has been his all along.
He winks at her, the grin on his face growing even more.

He’s gone.
Dead.
Her heart is broken, but Kannan is there to comfort her. He offers her a shelter from the storm. She cannot help it as she finds herself drawn into his embrace and finds herself caring about him more than before. But she also cannot help that when she sleeps in his embrace, all she thinks about is the man she lost.
He’s dead.
But, not really.
Though for him, it might as well be death. He’s not a passive guy, and when the rules say sit, he says jump. In this case, when the rules say don’t interfere, he says to hell with them all. For that he is punished. He can’t even see his team anymore, he can’t know what’s happening, he can’t spend his time watching her and wishing things had been different.
But one day he discovers that he can get around the rules. He sees her in her room, her legs are crossed and candles are lit, but she is not meditating. Later he sees others, sometimes he sees Elizabeth, sometimes he sees Ronon, and sometimes he sees Rodney.
But he sees her the most. Eventually he discovers that he can see the ones he cares about, when they think of him. He thinks its so clichéd, but it doesn’t matter, because he can see them. Once he sees them under fire, and wishes there was something he could do. But he stays his hand, no matter how it hurts, because he knows that if he acts, he will lose them forever.
His heart is broken when he sees her with another man. It is small comfort that she is thinking of him, but it can’t compare to the pain. He should have told her long ago, when he had the chance.
She doesn’t pray anymore, not like she did when she was a child. But this time, this one time, she utters a simple prayer under her breath. There’s nothing else for her to do anyway. Locked in a cell, alone, with a child in her womb that is growing more and more uncomfortable every moment. She’s alone in the world, her team has no idea where she is, the father of her baby has been brainwashed, and there is nothing for her to do but await the coming of her son. Her thoughts drift to the one person who would have saved her. Who would always come, no matter the cost. The man who would do anything for his ‘family’.
He’s been avoiding watching her, he’s tried to ignore her. It hurts far to much to watch as she becomes heavy with child and her thoughts shift away from him. But when he sees her alone in that cell, he can almost hear her cries. His heart is breaking. He has to help her. No matter what the cost.
When her eyes finally close he risks showing himself. He hasn’t seen her in the flesh in so long. All he wants to do is take her in his arms and tell her everything he never got a chance to. But there is no time for that, any second now the others will be on him and whisk him away. He can’t help himself when he reaches down and brushes hair away from her face.
“Goodbye, Teyla.” He whispers, and lays a knife down next to her hand before disappearing.
She bolts upright, breathing heavily. Something floats at the edge of her consciousness, and she can’t help but wonder if her prayers were heard when she sees the knife and open door.
He watches as she rises from the floor and sets out. In his heart he knows he’s done the right thing, though it may cost him everything. And he’s correct, as she disappears from his view and his vision fades to nothing.
On a planet somewhere, in the middle of a meadow, a man appears. He remembers nothing, he knows nothing. In the back of his mind lingers a name. He doesn’t know to whom it belongs, and he doesn’t know what significance it holds. All he knows is that it’s the most important thing in the world to him.
