today is the 30th wedding anniversary of my aunt and uncle.
they've been married longer than i've been alive - ten years longer, in fact. they had three children - and lost one at the age of six, and three through miscarriage - and they've lost three parents between them.
that kind of relationship is mind-boggling. thirty years is a very, very long time. not to mention the fact that, respectively, they're only 50 and 53. to think that, if i was my aunt, i'd be married within a year - eep. i can barely remember to do a load of washing and leave the house with shoes on. the notion of taking on someone else - and taking them on completely, thoroughly, forever - is one that doesn't compute in my brain just yet.
